Hey, i have an 88 2.9 xlt 4x4 that i am planning on suspension lifting 6in with 33s. i am a newbie to this stuff and was wondering how i can lift the back end of my truck more without using blocks? I am lifting it 6in with brackets and springs in the front and i have blocks to lift the back but they are all 2in blocks and i don't really want to stack that many? So any info/help on this or just lifting my truck in general would be great.

explorer leafs and chevy drop shackles should get you at least 4" which is about as much as lift leaves for 6" lifts give...

Does it matter what year? And what do i get the chevy drop shackles off of? or do i need to order them? Do you mean that all i should onlyneed is 4in of lift in the back because the wight of the engine will sag the front down to 4in?

Beltech 6400 Chevy drop shackles can be had at most truck or offroad shops, and sometimes places like Autozone, Kragen or O'Rielys carry off brand ones that are equivalent.

For the rear you can order replacement leaf packs, or AALs from any major lift manufacturer.

I used lift blocks off an older bronco and the drop shackles from Auto Zone for like 38.00. The last thing I am going to do is add a 90 ish leaf spring pack to put it where I want it. You will need longer shocks cause it will ride like a tank till you get some! Good luck!

Here is my tread on it;

Will leaf springs off a explorer at like a junkyard work with the chevy drop shackles to get me the 4in of lift? Are any shocks better than the rest?

Yeah they should work with them, you will have to buy diffrent bolts cause the stock ones didn't fit through the new drop shackel holes. It will give you about
3 1/4 to 4" of lift depending on your set up.
