I want to lift the rear of my Explorer without doing the SOA conversion like I did on my last one. Anyone know what my options are? Lookin at 6" lift for the front so I'd prolly need 4 or 5 for the rear.

you can put a ranger fx4 8.8 rear in and get like 3" of lift

I have a 6" JD lift in my Ex with the rear SPUA. They used a 1" shackle with lift leaves.

Yeah, but I want to keep the axle above the spring pack for the added stability and torque twist reduction.

Can you buy that setup seperately from the complete lift kit? Where can I find it?

I would guess you could if they got more in. My springs were the first set they got to test out. They won't be on their site yet so I'd call monday and talk to Bryan.

From what I just read on the site, they don't offer any springs at all for the Explorer. That's probably what you were implying. How long ago did you get your kit? How much did you pay for it? Is there any difference between the leaves and that of the Ranger or BII? I see now that they are located near you, guess you have the inside edge over the rest of us out here. What size tires are you running? The pic kinda looks like the rear is squatting a little compared to the front, is that true? I know the front coils will settle down some in time.

ranger leaf springs are the same if you bought 6" ranger lift springs ang got longer shackles you would be fine i dont know if explorers have a higher spring rate if so you could just throw one of your leafs in to stop it from saging

Ive had my lift for a couple of months now and love it! In the pic I'm running 35s and actually the rear is a tad higher than the front, must be the angle of the pic or my driveway. The ranger springs are shorter than B2 springs and explorer springs are longer than B2 springs. That's why we had to get springs made and test out, otherwise coulda just used what they already had. We used the 1" shackle so they could use the same spring pack for their shorter lift also. When I get to my computer I can post more pics or you can search my older posts.

My thought on using Ranger springs is that the rear end of the Ranger is much lighter than that of the Explorer so the lift amount wouldn't be the same. I don't know if they're the same springs or not. (As in length and width.) See previous post.

How much longer are the Ranger springs than the Explorer springs? If it's not that much, I would think the rear shackle would make up for the difference, especially with a longer shackle. If it's too much, I understand the binding issues it would have under full droop. Any idea if I could get the springs seperately, then maybe put an add-a-leaf in them to make the room?

They aren't, it's the other way around. When we first started kicking around the lift idea we took ranger and B2 leaves off the shelf at their shop and measured them against my stock Explorer springs. They also had a B2 at their shop so we measured the springs loaded to see how much they would flatten out. Ended up just making new springs with the correct spring rate. I believe they could go a little stiffer even, the ride is great but when i loaded some axles in the back it squatted pretty good. Of course a 44 and a 60 aren't light by any means.

Here's a couple poser shots I took while dicking around one day. I stuffed the tire so far into the fenderwell it bent the piece in front of the rear bumper.

you might be able to do something with 63in chevy leafs. just a thought but it prolly won't give you all the lift you want

I have a Hemi when I need to haul stuff so I'm not worried if they'll stand up to a load or not. All I want is enough lift to clear no more than 35s but prolly just 33s. Depends if I keep my Sport or not. The guy that's supposed to be buying it is lolly-gagging around and not returning my messages so I may just say the hell with it. If I do that, I'll prolly just leave this one stock. But if he does come around with money, then I'll hafta get this one a little higher.
