I own a 2002 model ranger 3.0 2wd tremor serise? just like the edge seems higher than the standerd rangers. Im geting ready to do a v8 302 swap and do a roll bar in the back and in the cab and of course lift it up.

what are the basic parts needed to do a lift. I want a mild lift nothing small but nothing to hard and pricey. shocks, blocks, spacers etc etc etc some links would be cool to products. im new to lifts and im not sure whats all involved and the prices

Well you have the edge ranger (the tremor package is just an audio package) I believe you have the 4x4 suspension which is a torsion bar suspension... there is no real cheap way to do a suspension lift. You can get a body lift for like 200 bucks, and it will give you some extra clearance for the v8 swap too...

+1 Body lifts are are a cheap 3 inches to lift your truck. Superlift offers 3-4inch lifts for around 1800 when its all said and done.

Those of us with newer rangers have little options:annoyed:

Fabtech, Camburg, and Pro Comp have 2wd lift kits that use lift spindles and rear blocks and don't cost nearly as much as the 4wd lift kits. You do need the Edge kit because the spindles are different than a coil sprung Ranger takes.
No, lift spindles will not work on a 4wd.

intresting. so you answer a few question already for me and one of them was what the hell is the differnt between a ranger a ranger edge and a ranger tremor.
thats sad to here that there are few option for newer models.

so the 2wd tremor/edge uses a 4x4 type suspesion or just the 4x4 factory lift? or is it that that edge and tremor uses a differnt spring/coil/spindle/leafspring setup.

cant wait for more feed back . so am i only limited to a body lift? and what parts would i need to do a body lift and whats involved for a 3inch type body lift.

thanks guys

Yes. Minus the front driveline parts.

or just the 4x4 factory lift?
There is no 4x4 factory lift. The suspension just sits higher.

Different than a coil sprung Ranger XLT, yes.

A Ranger Edge/Tremor uses the 4x4 torsion bar front suspension. There are no coil springs. That said, you do not need a 4x4 lift kit to lift it because you can use lift spindles which are much less costly.

This is basically all I found. Pro Comp doesn't show anything for 98+ and Camburg's kit is a helluva lot of money. Ditto Dixon Brothers.

Yeah basically you have a 4x4 truck and they just forgot to put the t case and front diff/axleshafts. And YEah I guess you can use a spindle lift as there is no shaft to the wheels. I don't know about them though...

A body lift can be had off ebay for like 200 bucks, it comes with everything you need to lift the truck. You remove the old body bolts jack up the body and slide the spacers in place then drop in the new bolts and your good to go.

thanks for reply guys im ordering the bodylift now and i am looking into the spindel at the link you sent me. i see the 3inch spindles for front then i see 2inch rear add a leaf so i would need both of these parts to do a suspension lift?

so installing the ebay body lift plus the 3inch spindle and 2inch add a leaf will give me a total of 6inch front lift and 5inch back? any problems i will encounter like lines and drive shaft etc... what is the bigest tire to fit with just the body lift?

also what shocks are reconmended

man im a thousand question man sorry guys thanks for your time you really are helping me out a bit.

If you want the truck to sit level, yes.

Yes, but right now it probably sits higher in the back so with the lift it will be level.

any problems i will encounter like lines and drive shaft etc...
Probably not. Generally speaking, with 4" or less of lift you don't have to bother with any of that.

what is the biggest tire to fit with just the body lift?
33". Use wheels with backspacing of 4.0" or less. With the bodylift and suspension lift you could fit 35's and maybe 36's.

also what shocks are recommended?
Dropped spindles do not (by themselves) require the use of longer shocks. With the rear lift blocks you might be better off with longer shocks in the rear. Fabtech's shocks will be designed to fit this combination. I would just use all of Fabtech's parts and call it good.

No prob, that's what we get the big money for. :icon_twisted:

It also has a carbed 350 Chevy, 5.13's, been rewired like a street rod, and there's video of him smoking the 37's.
Apparently no smog checks where he lives.

Well I just did 3inch blocks in the rear from auto zone (30$) and coil spring spacers in the front (40$)
