ok so i just finished installing a 3" bl on my 89 ranger xlt 2wd, and it clears 31s no problem, but the current 31s i have are getting bald and i wanna go bigger anyways since i already have the super common 15x8 wheels with the big offset. while i did the bl, i installed newer fx4 rear leaves since my originals were saggy and broken at the front eyelets. i didnt realize how much higher the fx4 units make the truck sit until i got the bed on. WOW! its time for a front leveling kit thats for sure! so now the question is, how do i go about doing this? should i get 2" lift coils or 2" daystar spacers? either way, i know im gonna need adjustable camber bushings. but will they be enough to completley correct camber and caster? and what ones should i get?

sorry for such a run-on question haha

if your wanting to do it cheap and easy do the washer spacer thing. if you get 2'' coils you *may* not get the entire 2'' of lift. and yes, new camber bushings will completely fix it. im not sure what ones you should get though as i had the alignment shop do it for me

sweet, think i could get a true 2" more tire clearance from the washers? im looking to clear 33's...

a 2'' stack of washers you would get true 2'' of lift. with a 3'' BL you should be able to clear 33's i think so leveling it would just be added clearance which is always nice.

Just throwing my personal experiance in on this. I origionally was going to do the washer spacer idea however i couldn't find them anywhere, well Tractor Supply could order them but i had to buy like a 500 count box. So what i ended up using was 2 and 7/8 in. outter diameter steel conduit. A foot of it cost me 15 bucks from a metal shop. I done the work at my friends and we just used a chop saw to cut it.

There is my build. If you go through you can see what i done.

Hope that helps. If you want a precise cut the place you get the conduit from could cut it with a bandsaw but they might charge extra. I only bought a foot of it because we weren't sure if we wanted to go a bit over 2 or stay at 2, and i have it leftover for something else. Anywho, good luck to you.

Ive got the daystars + a few washers amd I was able to correct the camber with 2.5* bushings from NAPA.

hey guys thanks for the replies...

i guess the most "proper" way to do it would be 2" lift springs huh? and i guess it wouldnt be a bad idea since my stockers are getting weak anyways...

and CRAP i just realized that im gonna need shocks! any suggestions for ones that are 2" longer with the same mounting setup?

and im gonna go look at bushings now... thinking around 2-3 degrees maybe.

jeep wrangler shocks are about 3" longer or f150 are like 2" i think i am running wranglers till i get money for good ones

hmm well do they mount the same way, like with the stud on top and the eyelet on the bottom?

They should. Here is the part number of what i used on the fronts of my 97.

G63410

I got them at autozone right around 30 dollars each. I'm happy with them, granted i don't do any off roading. I have found it's easier to give the part number then the link to autozone. Thoose are off a 93 F150 4wd with the 5.8L in it. You might have to special order them. I ran into a pinch with wrong shocks so it set on my buddy's lift for a day, thankfully the next day the guys at autozone came through and found some in the back.

alright well i think im just gonna get a daystar kit or maybe a buncha washers (enough to gain 2.5" fender clearance) and see how my current shocks handle it. if its no good, then its f150 shock time! haha
