I finally recieved my Level II tow hooks for the Ranger. I bought these off of a guy for $65, not bad! They were a little dirty when i got them, but nothing a little degreaser and a rag didnt take care of. Then I took out the metal polish and went to town!

(this was before metal polish)

what do ya think!

sweet deal, i picked up some hooks from an expedition in the junk yard but they look way too overkill for my truck so i welded them to some 2" square tube so i can slide them into my recievers. i wish i would have found some hooks like those though nice find!

Got up early this morning and headed to the shop and got a start on the tow hooks. I got the driver side put on last night and got so aggravated that i gave up on the passenger side. The passenger side is no joke, no room to work and stupid header panel was in the way. i got all but one bolt off and it was STUCK! When I took and impact gun to it and it didn't budge, i knew i was in trouble! i pb blasted it and even tried long breaker bar with no luck. Finally got mad at it and took a stubby wrench and a dead blow hammer and got the job done. You know after i broke it loose, it was still so tight and hung that the impact wrench and breaker bar still didn't touch it! I had to hammer it until is was almost all the way out. Call me wimp or whatever, but it was seriously held tight! Anyways on to the pics! Look past dirty truck, its been raining all week.

Those look really good. Not huge and out of place but definitely noticeable. How many bolts hold them on?

3 bolts hold them on. The attach to what appears to be the lower rad support. I won't use the tow hooks on my Ranger. The attachment points from the factory seem flimsy. I'll hook to the hitch instead.

Looks good. And not dirty by a long shot.

:agree: Where I'm from that's clean. This time of year no matter what you drive it becomes brown.

my 2wd is screaming for these.. who sells these?

no one really, i bought these from a guy with a Level II. Its either that, ebay (which is crazy expensive), or dealer (which is crazy expensive)

Good man! Sorry Scotty. haha.

They actually mount to a dedicated crossmember between the frame rails that's also an integrated bumper bracket. The x-member is actually about a foot in front of the radiator.

As seen here. hehe....

FX4 what hitch did you bolt and or weld in there? is this plausible on my truck, judging by the photos looks like you have some bodylifiting or something going on there, thats why I ask.

thanks..

damn that is a ****in sexy ass black ranger

He's double lifted (suspension and body) and running 35s I think. And I'm pretty sure that the hitch is welded in place. You can take any hitch, cut the middle out of your crossmember, then cut the middle of the hitch you're using out andweld it in place.

AND ANYONE wanting to replace theirs, be warned that they are a ***** to get out! The bolts have loctite on them from the factory and there is limited room to work under there!

Yes Scott, I'm a whore and proud to be it!!

Yup...bodylift and suspension lift on 35's. Scotty got it right.

I took a hidden hitch designed for the front of a 98+ ranger(discontinued hitch), placed it ontop of the frame instead of below, then welded it on. I did that to compensate for the bodylift. If I could do it over, I totally would. Using a rear hitch off anything, cut it up and some angle iron...buzz it together. You can tell in the pics I had to trim my valence some to actually use it. Big mistake on my part. I wish I lowered the hitch about an inch to fit perfect. Oh well...live and learn, spread the word and hope no one else makes my mistake.

On a non-BL truck, the hole in the hitch will be below that crossmember in my pic i posted above. I got some pics but i'm too lazy to find 'em. lol.
