I scored a new set of 2.9 headers from summit that a guy bought for a truck and never used. The exhaust system in my truck is shot. I am going to replace the entire system. I am going to put in a "matched" system. Due to federal law, I will not be removing the cat, but I am installing a cat test pipe and will be "testing" it until I either scrap or sell the truck someday. I also bought an 88 ecm from one of the moderators here so I can remove the egr system. I would like the system to produce low to mid range power. I would like to tuck it up as high as possible being that this truck is a Driver/ trial rig 4 x 4. Anybody out there that can post up pics of their system.

I don't have pics but I have a bodylift on mine and the spare tire carrier is no longer under the truck. My duals are routed between the frame rails, go above the frame (thanks to bodylift) and come down at an angle (both down, to the back and out) at the rear sides of the box right in front of the bumper. Nothing hangs down below the frame until the exit and even then the bumper/receiver are lower.

I have removed all my exhaust system. I cut it out before I removed my trans for a clutch job. Still have had few replies on this subject. The y pipe is supposed to fit an 1987 ranger with a 2.9 according to the part number. The flange is not the same as the cat on my truck. Not sure if I go with a new high flow cat or :icon_confused:. Does eastwood or anyone else sell an exhaust coating I can paint on? I not sure a set of duels would do the 2.9 any good. I have match ported the motor and will be using a aftermarket air cleaner setup.

I have completed most of the other work I did to my truck. The headers bolt up but the clearance from the end of the Y pipe will be very close to the swaybar cross member. I may have to mod the y pipe. My game plan after talking to tech support at pacesetter is to run 2 1/4" pipe to a muffler and exit out the side in front of the passenger side rear wheel. I don't want my truck to be real loud so I would like to find out what type of muffler you have run without the cat.
