Ok im new here, I want to see what all you guys think of this truck. What I know about it, Im going to go drive it/look at it on Saterday the 4th. Its a 86 Ranger, with what he THINKS to be a 88 Ranger 2.9 EFI engine that he put in to it. The other one throw a rod. This is what I know about it:

Its lifted 8in by Altons Tires

its on 35"s

2.25" Exhaust with a flowmaster

He replaced the tires, driver side wheel bearing all the interior

A different gas tank for better clearance

different grill, hood, doors, tailgate, off of a newer one.

He said the valves need adjusted maybe.

Let me know what you guys think here are some pictures of it.

Im buying this for a winter truck/hunting and a play truck. I would like to know what is some known problems with these?? What sould I look for or do when I go and check it out? I just dont want to get myself in to a money pit. He is asking $1000 for it.

Whats the best way to tell if its a Dana 35? what did they come with stock?

those came with dana 28s up front. 35 has 10 bolts 26 has 12 bolts. no the 28 will break if you wheel it hard at all. if you just drive it on the street and down trails i dont think you will have too many issues. other than that ask about the transmission. if it has over 150,000 on the origional trans W/o reuild beware. mine had 160,000 ran great. 3 months later it started leakng and with in two days the leak was out of control and i burned up the guts limping it to a trans shop. dont trust a rebuild over 125,000. i dont think it dose but if it has a tulip drive shaft you will need to replace it. i think they only put those in the bronco IIs but they may have made longer modles for some rangers.

i dont know everything, i am just sharing what i have learned from personal experience. if it has a 28 swaping in a 35 is easy. about a days worth of work

PS remove the mud flaps.

I agree the mud flaps are coming right off. Im not sure how many miles are on the tranny...... its a 5speed manual.
