LED fog/driving lights?

Does anyone have experience with the light output of LED driving and/or Fog lights? It is my understanding they have a far lower power draw compared to Halogen bulbs, so I was thinking I could run some of them without worrying about my alternator needing an upgrade.

I jumped on Ebay and a few looked like they might not be too bad...

$20 for a pair of lights seems like a good price, but I can't say I have much interest in waiting on shipping and whatnot for crappy lights, when I can just go down to Princess Auto for cheap (although halogen) lights. Like these:

I have seen some brand-name LED lights, but they are crazy expensive...

Any real-world experience with LED fog or driving lights would be awesome.

It's difficult to actually figure out what size things are without some kind of reference point but if you notice the size of the switch next to the lights, that would make them the size of a toonie. The cheap led lights put out less light than an led maglight. There's a guy on jeepscanada that just put led headlights on his jk and the results are quite spectacular, but six hundred bucks a shot.

i would recommend buying the HID kit and putting them in your existing OFF ROAD LIGHT HOUSING. not the headlights lol..

the hella's can be converted for like $70 or so..
that's better than $137.99 a piece.

That doesn't help me at all. I dont have that kinda cash to spend on some lights, there are plenty of other things to spend $200+ on.

Does a 1989 b2 even have off road light housings? I was just looking for something cheap to tie me over until I have funds for some name-brand HIDs (which in all honestly could be a year or more) so I guess I will probably just get some $10 lights from Princess Auto.

Would a stock alternator be okay running my stereo and two sets of 55w halogen (4 total) lights? It is an '89b2 with A/C.

no they don't have off road lights from factory, but a lot of people take the cheap hella's or whatever they already have and add the HID's to them. but if i was you i would get something like http://www.amazon.com/Hella-5750941-500FF-Halogen-Driving/dp/B001TWD5GY/?tag=959media-20 which are the hella's. they are the best cheap lights i've ever had. i've had the $20 lights from walmart and was not happy with them. but try what you want... hopefully you have better luck than i do. somewhere you can find the hella's for about $45, or you used to be able to

i wouldn't be worried about running 4 lights, b/c usually they won't be on, they won't be ran long periods of time.. you only need that much light if you are doing night runs and you are the guy in front.

Never ran 2 sets of 55's but ran a whole lot bigger on stock alt. Make sure you run relays.

i had plans for lots of lights on my rig.. then did a few night runs and realized i'm fine with just the headlights and my one set of lights on the bumper...

i would however like more light on demand for the rear.

Actually, at least half of my wheeling ends up being at night, due to school/work during the days... And although I would typically only want to run 1 set of lights, a second set is really nice to have for recovery efforts and the such... I dont want to over-tax my alternator just for a bit more light though, I can always make people hold flashlights or whatever if absolutely necessary.
Does anyone know the output of a stock 89 bronco II Alt w/AC? And perhaps the math I need to figure out how many lights I can run before I screw things up. If possible, I would like to run a 3rd set in the back as well.

And on the note of not being happy with the lights, I dont expect to be enthralled by them or anything, but running my high beams creates a lot of glare on the mirrors of anyone stuck infront of me if I am not leading, So I am looking for something to supplement my low-beams at this point.

2.9 alt was only like 60 amps i think.. maybe 65
could always add a 2nd battery a marine battery maybe? with reserve.

I've seen the big rigid lights in the desert. Rigid claims 2200 feet of throw out of a pair of 50 inch bars, and I believe it. Those suckers are blinding.

I'm a college kid too. Thats why I can only gawk at one.

the 50 inch bars are around 1600

But that's the only experience I have with LED bars
