Leaky rearend.....

I noticed the rear-end is leaking around the bolts on my 1990 Bronco II....I'm a novice mechanic at best, how difficult is this to repair? Is this something that I could do easily, or am I looking at sending her to a mechanic? Help?!

It's rather simple, you take the bolts out, take the cover off and replace the gasket. (7.5 axle if you didn't know)Then refill with gear oil as it will have all leaked out by now!

I would check the fluid level, if it's only a small leak you'll be fine, you just don't wanna be low on gear oil.

I have had a leak like yours in my DD for a year and half, I just periodically check the fluid.

Thanks for the help....i've only had my BII for about 4 weeks.... it had been sitting for over two years...I had a new-used engine put in it... so far I enjoy it alot....thanks for the help.

Don't use a gasket, use RTV only, no need for a gasket.

Thanks....It is actually in pretty good condition....no rust, only a minor dent in the drivers side fender....needs paint, but it is 18 years old!!
