Took my truck to transmission shop. He told me the tranny leaks, and would put a new transmission in for $1,800. This might be a fair price, but way to much for me to afford, especially considering i payed $800 for the truck. I drove my truck down to the guy with out much trouble, just bucks when switching gears. The mechanic told me he couldnt even get it to move, and that all the tranny fluid had leaked out. Is there possibly a cheaper solution? Any chemical to seal a transmission? Id like to get a few more months out of this truck if I can, Im very tight for money, high school student working at an ice cream store :(

I would think that they could replace a leaking seal or something. Im having kinda the same problem. Took my truck to a tranny shop with minor problems, now there telling me I need my tranny rebuilt for 2300 dollars. Its only got 76,000 miles on the 5spd manuel. get a second opinon.
