the other day while working on my ranger I turned the wheel lock to lock while the truck was off and it leaked all the power steering fluid I inspected the pump but couldnt find the source of the leak. my question is will I have any problems if I refill it with regular power steering fluid or do I have to fill it with ATF since I read somewhere that is what your supposed to use ?

If the truck was turned off when you did this, it probably just spilled out of the filler neck on the pump reservoir. I know that when I fixed my power steering pump, and I would turn it lock to lock, the fluid would spill out of the reservoir. I would just fill it back up and see what it does. Clean off the spilled fluid just to be sure if it is leaking anywhere.

thats what I figured since it squirted over the sides of the hood just wanted to know if I messed anything up but I guess thats normal thanks

And yes, use Mercon ATF
