I've tried to do a search, but couldnt come up with any relevant information...

Every time it rains for a few days, usually 3 or more. My back window leaks badly at the top.

Has anyone else ever encountered this issue?

Whats the fix?

Friend of mine told me they just stuck the windows in w/o sealer, and just had a rubbber gasket, and the gasket is out of place. Does that jive with anything you've seen or heard???

I really need to rectify this issue! It's filling up my rear cup holders and soaking my floor!!!

Thanks!

Take a look at your third brake light/ cargo light at the top of the cab. I will bet that the seal has failed on that, and that is where you are getting your water.

Yeah check your third brake light first. Its a common problem but don't rule out the back window either. I had to replace mine because it was the issue.

Sent from the think n' stink.

What they said but mine turned out to be the rubber gasket some sealer fixed that.

I've also heard from the weld on the rear corner of the Cab.

But the third brake light is the most common. And before you ask no they don't sell it by itself only the whole assembly which comes with a new seal. I fashioned a new seal with gasket material and a tiny bit of rtv on one side.

My 06 does the same thing, I can watch it literally drip into my cab. Luckily I have the plastic floor liner, so the only bad thing is my headliner gets soaked. Ive also heard it was the thrid brake light seal, havent tried to fix it yet though..i need to!

Can anyone find a link of this? Ive found some but none that really confirm it. Most threads just bring up the brake light and window issue.

My "window" leak was from the 3rd brake light. Black RTV silicone fixed it. Turns out my rear window seal was fine.

The third brake lights on these trucks are garbage. Not only do they leak like crazy, but the stupid wedge base bulbs they use have very poor connectivity. The bulbs wiggle around in the sockets too much and the metal contacts don't touch half the time. Next time you're driving behind another Ranger, look at the third brake light. There's about a 80% (a number I pulled out of my ass) chance it will not light up. Do yourself a favor and replace the whole housing with an LED unit from Putco. You don't have to use any RTV or gasket material on it; the seal it has is high quality and more than adequate on its own. The LED bulbs will last basically forever and will light up every time they're supposed to. Plus, you'll get cargo lights which you probably don't already have.

Only downside though is they are expensive (havent looked in awhile though) and ugly in my book.

ive never had a problem with the light itself, and I only did mine as preventative in troubleshooting another leak

I had the same promlem with my2002 Ranger XLT and after replacing the gasket on the third brake light and putting two gaskets on it still leaked . I found that i used a putty knife to pry the gasket open for the window and used some black RTV sealer it stoped the problem of filling up the cup holders every time it rained.
