Ranger Station members,

I have a 2002 Ranger XLT with a 4.0L V6 that is leaking transmission fluid from where it appears is the "cooler" lines that run into the radiator area. The trans. started slipping going into reverse and drive when the engine was cold this morning. Fluid level was low over the weekend so I added some.

I am not too versed in Ranger mechanics but can repair it, if needed. What would cause trans. fluid to leak from those lines? Loose lines? Bent or kinked lines/connectors/etc.?

Thanks in advance, everyone!

Joe

You said it! Also look for corroded lines....i guess when you look where its coming from you have found the leak

One,

Thanks for the reply...a year later! :D

The leak turned out to be on both trans cooler lines. They were both corroded from the cooler to just before the rubber pieces. I had to cut each line and use a flare tool then tighten them back up. All good now...at least, until they corrode again. :icon_thumby:

Thanks!

Joe
