I just purchased my first mini truck and want to lower it it looks to me that i dont need a leaf spring flip kit? But what do i know is it possible to flip without a kit and can i run it without getting smaller shocks?

There are several ways to lower the rear, so you don't have to do the flip kit, but it is the cheapest way to drop the rear if you want 4-5 inches of drop.
Shackle Flip: 2 inches
Drop Leafs: 3 inches
Flip kit: 4-5 inches
Explorer axle swap: 4-5 inches, plus they're easy to find with disc brakes and/or limited slip options

You can combine many of those methods too.

A flip kit is required to move the Ranger axle on top of the springs. I've seen people make their own, but most people just but them. You can usually find them for about $50.

Dropping the truck 4-5 inches (using any of the methods above) will require drop shocks. You may be able to use the stock shocks for awhile, but it won't be a nice ride, and they'll blow out really fast
