Ok i have a 94 Explorer. and i replaced the shackles for the rear leaf springs...upon taking out the bolts that connect the shackle to the leaf spring, it pulled the whole bushing with it (inner metal sleeve and rubber) but left the outter metal ring of the bushings...how do i get this removed from the leaf spring so i can put in my new bushings? i tried pliers and vise grips and i pb blasted it to try and loosen it but no luck. Any recomendations?

take the spring the whole way off the truck and have it pressed out

they are ushauly rusted in there so bad its hard to get them out but take the spring off the truck and you can try punching it out with a socket and a big hammer

A BFH!!!!! thats the terms im familiar with lol i guess its a go i was just worried with taking off the front mount the bushings would do the same and thats more money im trying to avoid from spending so yea but thanks for the tips! a BFH is in store to be used tomorrow!

lol i can tell you now that you will not get it out with it on the truck because the spring will move to much. how much are those bushing lmc truck sells all 4 of them for a decent price

yea thats what i figured it seemed nearly impossible with it still on teh truck...but i figured i ask around and see if anyone had any special tricks...as for the bushings i got 2 of the rear bushings that go through the eye of the leaf spring for under 21 dollars from a suspension store close to me (huskySprings) maybe they will be relatively cheap there too lol

air chisel. thats by far the best way to do it

When I did my explorer 8.8 and leaf swap I redid the bushings. Took me over an hour to get one spring eye clear. I took it to a shop and they did the rest for 45 bucks.

im trying to avoid taking it to a shop tho for the simple fact my funds are running wayy low on the explorer project lol

but the question is do u think there is a way an air chisel would work with the front mount still attched im assuming not but hey if its worked for someone else there just may be a way lol

if youve got the room to work on the other end of the spring, i dont see why not...
