Larger Front Brakes On 2011?

Well lookie here

It wasn't the caliper mounting bracket after all.

It was the brake pad retainer clips.

Looks like bend 'em back, pinch 'em down good, and SEND IT.

Awesome! That's much better than taking permanent material off of components, even if they can handle the shave. Now all you have to worry about is the possibility of a bent wheel in the future, but with meat like that around them, I say that's a very small worry. Win!

Aaaaaannnd newp. Or yes. Depends on how you look at it.

Bent them as best I could, but because they are supposed to flex, they didn't want to stay bent.

As soon as I pulled out of the driveway.... Screee screee screee...

There is plenty of room between the bracket and the wheel... I can fit my pinky between them.

It's the damn springy steel clips...

Time to pull a wheel off AGAIN and fawk with it.

I am half tempted to zip 1/4" off the tail of the damn clips.

It's gonna need front brakes soon. Gonna do them when I put the new shocks in. Then just make sure I bend and pinch those clips down right against the bracket when I put them in.

Can you cut them down some? Maybe use a Dremel?

I saw your other post. Yeah, if it doesn't affect brake pad stability, zip a bit off.

Mr. DeWalt solved the problem.

Zipped 3/8 or so off all 4.

Little test drive.
Including some "panic stops"
All better.
And the clips are still all the way around the square nubs on the calipers, they ain't going anywhere.
