Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

i know this is an older thread but this is a fantastic build, great inspiration for the future.
Thanks! Keep an eye on this one. Because I am still working on it.
Braaaaaap! Truck looks awesome, Kyle! Time to rock ya some half doors.

Half doors are a pain, no doors is where it's at! When I build my interior cage I will put a door bar on it to help hold me in

cant wait for what the future holds on your build.

Alright, help me figure out what I wanna do. My box is messed up, needs some work. I have been tossing around the idea of a bed cage and box sides, but I can't think of a good way to mount the sides. On the other hand, I am not sure I wanna put that much work into a bed cage to just hold the box sides on. SO I am thinking maybe truggy, but i dislike the look of the factory frame rail and I would rather back half it, just don't have the money to 4 link it right now.

SO question is,
truggy
bed cage
F it, run it
just stitch it back together like my original plan, maybe do a dove tail on it for fun.

help me decide!!

Oh, and if anyone has a picture of something cool I should consider, post it up!

I say either F it and run it or dove tail it until you get the money to do exactly what you want to do to it so your not throwing money away in the long run :icon_cheers:

By the way I love your truck and i'm sure its gonna look good no matter what:headbang:

I have a good idea for doors, but not the bed.

find your self another set of hinges and door latch, make a U shape out of some 2" or 2.5 in tube, have it run back far enough to where you can weld a plate and latch so when you close it, it will latch to the factory cab latch, the hinges would be mounted at the ends of the U tube.

the only thing I can tell you about the bed, is what I like, I like a nice factory truck bed, but that isn't what you was asking. Sorry

Robert

agreed, same thing im doing right now, running the current setup until i get the monies to atleast get a start on what i want.

Do what Zach did, just make it able to run leafs then link it later.

I'd backhalf mine in a hearbeat but I still intend to be able to carry 2 bikes or a quad in the box or whatever it ends up being.

Yeah, think I will just fix it up and do a dove tail. How wide should I take out? Thinking 10 or 12 inches narrower in the rear, to help me save it a little better

I dunno how much bed space you want to keep but don't most people get it so they bring the tail lights so they're over the frame rails? I'm glad you are keepng the bed I can't stand the truggy look. And maybe box in the front of the box again that way it doesn't fold up as easy

I'm not sure, just don't want to make it look funny! One thing that has always bothered me is the hacked up bed so I would like to make it more stout. The front that I cut out iwas junk so I never finished it......guess I will now!

As said above, the ones I've seen are narrowed to the frame rails (tail lights over the rails). So somewhere in that neighborhood anyway.

i still say truggy/tube bed...but thats just me any way it goes it will look clean. im just a hater of sheetmetal

On Pirate, there is the build "Project Running out of time" where he dove tailed it and still has enough room for his spare. Plus i think his dove tail looks F-ing sick
