Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

You can use 1350's, but if it were me I would want a 1350 with a fixed front output for the second box. The doubler box also needs to be manual.

Building a shaft can cost you anywhere from a case of beer to a couple hundred bucks, just depends on the hook up you have. Then really the only other cost would be the doubler adaptor plate, and if you feel alright with building things like this, IDK, $50 or so for the plate.

If you already have the cases and don't wanna make the parts, buy a kit from D&D machine for about 500 bucks and just put it together.

im sure i can get the shaft made for nothing, i have everything else, both cases are manual shift, i know where i can get a full sheet of 3/4" plate, but that might be a bit overkill. im sure it wont be the end of the world to find a shop with some 1/2" plate. Im deffinetly gonna read up on this in the tech library and the forums, would be killer to have

Kyle how ya feeling? Get all healed up and recovered?

I am starting to feel like my old self, still haven't done anything too tough yet. I changed my oil today in my new truck and I kinda feel like I over did it a little. My shoulder is pretty weak yet and I am going easy on the broke ribs. Only problem is I am bored as hell and my mind still works, but all I can do is sit here and get pissed cus I can't do anything I want to!

Take it easy and get some rest, you will want to heal right the first time, not have something not heal right then have to have it rebroke/reset and go through the healing process all over again...Take it easy buddy :icon_thumby:

Yup, wouldn't miss it!

EDIT....just found out I can't go, checked my other thread and realized I have prior obligations I can't miss. You should come up this way. It is a benefit for one of the CTOR members.

Wow, 10 hour drive, almost 600 miles! I hope I have a passenger to help with fuel cost!

Alright time for a little update. Gathering parts to swap the 5.0, picked up a main part. Got a C4 tranny so I can keep using my 1354 case, price was right. Now I need to pick up a shifter and oil filter relocator kit, maybe some motor mounts and a bigger radiator. Looking forward to it but I think I will make it a winter project and maybe go tons if money is right, time will tell.

Do it like Gwaii's truck, and put it in the bed, and add a few more t-case's and stuff.

also that engine would look killer in my 88 2wd Ranger also.

Can someone do me a big favor, I wanna figure out how much lift I have and best way I can figure is to measure from the rear frame to the top of the rear axle. Anyone close enough to stock where they can do that for me? I'm curious on how much lift I have.

my 91 x-cab is 10.75 from axle to frame...and all stock for now...minus bed but does nave flatbed on it.

I just measured mine, from the flat area where the bump stop mounts to the top of the axle I got 11.75". I guess I do have a larger dia axle too, maybe .5" over all so add a 1/4" to that that says I have 1.25" of lift. Anyone else wanna compare? I know my truck is low, but seems like it is taller than that, or maybe it is just the 38's......lol

it's not gonna be the same though, is it? arent your leafs mounted directly under the frame rails?
