Kroussin 93 Explorer build

well i went to war on the rockers and I think i won.i'm pretty happy with them at the moment. not going to cap them in. leaving them open will alow me to wash out all the road salt and mud. The rockers are trimed up to about 1/4" below the door. and the front fender is trimed as well. below are some pictures of how i remounted my fender after completely cutting off the bottom mounting area. worked out pretty. now i just need some sliders!!!
used a sawzall to cut off the mass of the rockers i then proceded to trim it all up nice, snug and smooth using a flap wheel. worked out pretty nice.

after cutting the rockers the fender had to be addressed. cutting off the lower section meant cutting off the mount as well. i'm not too keen on flopy fenders so here we go. i'm not gonna go thru and describe every step as its pretty self explanitory using evidence in the pictures. however if you have questions, comments feel free to ask. if it looks like its not done right it probably isnt. and yes the pipe is galvanized conduit i made sure to take deap breaths while welding it. hahaha. gonna reundercoat everything as i gave up on removing the crappy "bedliner" rasp material. eventually would like to go over it with some rubberized undercoating to make it a little more smooth and not take you skin off.

Looks like an extended body exploder.

Looks like an extended body exploder.

thats my awsome photography skill's.

didnt get anything done on the truck tonight. but i did take the s-10 and cut a truck load of firewood. also cleaned the garage as well.
tomorrow my parts for the rear axleshould be in. hope to have the front hardened crosspin by the weekend and get it back together by monday tuesday.

probably take longer than that but oh well

it's getting ever so closer to being 100% trail ready. got a couple of things crossed off the list this weekend and took a chunk out of several others. battery terminals are completely redone. breathers are relocated from the passanger side to the driversside due to space constraints. external C.B. speaker is mounted (still needs to be wired in). C.B. mic leash is done. flashlights are mounted. inner fenders cut.

I will post pics and descriptions as soon as i actually get stuff completely done. need to pick up some odds and ends this week to finish some little things up. Taking my son to his first swim classes tomorrow (7 months old) so wont get much done till tuesday. and thats when the rest of my parts from RRP should be here. will be a busy rest of the week in order to get it done for the weekend

6 door Explorer FTW

I CANNOT WAIT till this thing is back together. really want to be out wheelin in this snow were getting right now. axles should be done by the weekend. hopefully it'll be out on the trail on saturday. then back in the shop next week for the rear bumper, tire carrier, finish up with the storage area. and clean up all the other odd's and ends.

as of right now to be back out wheelin i need to :
contact aussie bout there tolerances so my guy can finish setting up the rear 3rd
get the front welded (for now) and put it back in the axle ( hardened crossshaft should arrive tomorrow)
put in outter debris seals (should arrive tomorrow)
install a drain plug in the rear axle
reassemble front and rear axle (shafts, break's, etc)
install driveshafts
bleed brake's
get new bolt for battery tie down.
mount my new toolbox in the rear
top off all fluids
and a couple other LITTLE things

all this and i'm still not 100% sure the clutch is going to cooperate for me GGGRRRRR!!!!!!

Because of the snow up there I cant go up there with another guy to go get his Audi that we are going to go pick up, in return I get his current vehicle, a 94 blazer 4wd. Suppose to have done that today. All my snow has melted so not much fun now, snow wise that is. Now to go find a mud hole to go splash in.

well i shoulda just stayed in bed today!!!

called aussie and they want me to measure the parts and email them the specs to them. it sounds like i will have to ship the locker to them. if that happens i'm debating on just gettin a refund and shellin out the extra money for a detroit.

then the ups truck came. so i got my outer debris seals and hardened front crosspin. got home in a shitty mood so i decided hey i'll start on putting in my new shiny seal's
ACCESS DENIED!!! turns out I have 1/2" axle tubes and they wont fit. not gonna bother with making them fit. just gonna either A. sell them to one of my buddies that can run em. OR B. they will pay for shipping on the return.

was really looking forward to getting out in it this weekend. but it looks like i am gonna be down for another good bit. DAMN!!!

Is the Aussie for the front or rear? I know Greg had problems with his, but when I did mine everything fit the way it should.

for the 9" rear

if i had the money ide ship it back and shell out for the yukon.
not that its a bad unit. i just doubt i'm going to see an answer anytime soon
