I know I have not been by the site in a while, but now I am here and with a big need. Please keep my friends and their family in your thoughts and prayers (I know gearheads have hearts too). Their daughter (Kristen Miller) was born on Sept. 11th, 2001 in Riley Childrens Hospital in Indianapolis as the World Trade Centers came tumbling down. The doctors only gave her hours to live at the most due to an enlarged heart (about half the size of an adults heart, if I remember correctly). Today, 9 years later that little sweetheart passed away this afternoon in the same hospital she was born in. This little one could brighten anyone's day, and now she has fallen to a staph infection that was causing pneumonia and she had a blood clot on her artificial valve that she went into surgery Friday to replace the valve. Thank you, it means a lot.

will be in prayers and hope the best for the family they got a hard road ahead of them

You got it. Prayers going to the family as we speak!

Sorry to hear that. My thoughts will be with the family.

Gearheads have BIG hearts! We'll be the first ones to jump in and help and won't leave until the task is complete. Sadly, this is one of those tasks that can never be completed. The wounds will (sadly) always be there.

Prayers sent and for those of you who don't - donate blood! Takes an hour and it's free, they give you cookies and some soda/pop. Alway so sad that these things happen, especially to those so young.
Wise old man once told me that life is termianal, sure didn't brighten my day but sure made me think about mine.

I'm a proud blood doner myself. The pain of needle is a small price to pay to help somebody when they need it most.

The local blood center around here often has food from local resturants donated and they sometimes give away some good stuff, like tickets to the local minor league baseball team games.

thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.
some things seem so unfair, but always remember- everything happens for a reason.
you are all in our thoughts.

Ditto on the gearheads, we do have large hearts, and I am praying now.

I can't imagine the pain of losing a kid that size. A 9 year-old is a big, smart kid with her own thoughts and dreams. My heart is broken too.

Don't mean to thread-jack, but, I'll never forget that day. My wife and I were in Italy and there were old women screaming "La Bomba", "La Bomba" out of their houses in Tuscany. We were on a bicycle ride and our tour guide lived next to the amory in NY. We finally flew back into Newark with F-15's flying around the smoking hole where the WTC was. I've never heard a plane so loud clapping, cheering when we landed. It pales in the comparison of a child dying though. My prayers are with you bud.

No questions asked. Done.

Done.

Nobody should out-live their kids. :(

That's just 2 years older than my angel, I couldn't imagine! Prayers going out now!

Thank you guys for your kindness. I will let my friends know about your selfless sacrifices. As a little update, they are doing an organ donation today (yet another way Kristen can reach out to others), and then they can hold their baby one last time. Here is a picture of Kristen after surgery before she died yesterday.

An Irish Blessing.
