Koty's 91 Ranger Build Thread

Got back over to the shop and finished pulling all my brackets, buckets, steering and trac bar off. Also got the axle tore down for a rebuild. Then my buddy who has shaved multiple d60s and the bigger ford rear ends said he wanted to shave a d44. So that's the next thing on the list after rebuilding, shave the d44 and 9"

Damn you do live out in the middle of nowhere. I hate living in a city.

That's my buddies shop, about 8 miles from my house. I wouldn't trade it for the world though

What exactly is the point of shaving a Dana 44? I dont see you gaining anything by doing this? I understand the gains of shaving a 60 or 14B but....a D44?

To be completely honest, just to do it haha. I know I won't gain much clearance but we've got the tools, ability, and time. It not a complete waste if you're gaining knowledge and experience is the way I see it

Almost finished shaving the d44. Welder ran out of wire and my buddy only had an inch left to weld. Anyways I gained about 7/8" of clearance and got rid of the bottom lip

That's not going to hit the engine cross member? Don't go to big in the re-enforcements or you may a well have a ttb back on her as plow.

Looking good so far.

It shouldn't be too bad. Nothing we can't modify to fix. Thinking about moving the axle forward alittle anyway. Not too sure yet

Haven't got a lot done lately. Gotta get a new drivers radius arm bc it's tweaked. Went ahead and got the passenger arm all cleaned though so we can plate, extend, and wrist it. My steering box is leaking so might as well pick up a bigger box while I'm at it

Been preoccupied lately. Did get the passenger arms plates cut and welded in. Next we will work on wristing and extending them

Got the holes for my arm milled out. The hot rolled steel was eating through the bigger drill bits

Bought 3 38.5x14.5 tsls for $125. See if I can find 2 more by the time it's driving.

I also started plating the knuckles for strength but didn't get a pic of that

Been too broke to make any progress. I need to get my knuckles machined flat on top for a custom high steer and get a high steer kit with the cones and some rod ends for a trac bar. I'm leveling the f250 in a week or so with a kit my buddy gave me and a buddy got some free 1/8-1/4 tread 33" Mickey thompsons for me to go on it
