You can get another 2x4 and nail them together. Screws work also, and so does glue but it's a little messier. Hell you could even drill some holes and bolt them together.

All kidding aside, its not a very simple project. If you have a 4x4 truck sitting around it may be reasonable, but you'll need to get a different transmission, and a transfer case. Then you'll need to remove the crossmember the engine mounts to and swap it for a 4x4 one.

If you're going through this trouble I would make sure to upgrade to the Dana 35 front end, as the D28s are pretty weak, unless you don't plan on wheeling it.

I'd probably be better to sell the truck and buy a 4x4, but in the end, it's your call.

have all the knew parts just asking if the frames are the same. clean parts and yes a 35 and an 8.8 also a 4.0 clutch the reason i ask is i have a verry clean 2x chassy and body just want to swap the crossmeamber and all above o and a one peice drive line.

Yeah as far as I know, the frames are the same. Try searching the forums, I know this has been discussed a few times, and you'll probably find some info from someone who has actually done it.

If you scroll all the way to the top of this page, there is a dark blue line through the middle of the screen. Towards the left side it says Search with a little down arrow. It's a drop down menu, just search for "4x2 4x4 swap" or something similar.

Hope that helps....
