km2s vs. all terrains.

either going to get bfg mud terrain km2s or the all terrain.
i want the km2s because obviously there better for wheelin then the all terrains, but i also want the all terrains because theyll last longer on the road, and my truck will be my daily driver. but if uve had the all terrains:

i live in florida, so how do they do in sugar sand, and soupy soupy muck and mud?

how long do they last on the road?

For a DD, I feel mud tires only belong on separate wheels. BFG mud-terrains don't last for shit on the highway. They will chop up like crazy if you drive highway speeds on the often. They know this and offer no treadwear warranty so they can protect themselves from stupid people. I would go AT's. They are plenty good enough for occasional wheeling and if you get in to some serious stuff, you would be using a different truck anyhow, not your DD.

there is no reason whatsoever that u shouldnt be able to pull almost the same miles out of a set of BFG KMs2 versus the all terrains, i personally havent had a set of km2s but imagine the wear would be similar to any number of other mud terrains ive run, or have seen run for years on end...


personally, if its a daily driver that ur asking about soupy soupy nasty shit, id just get the mud terrains, u will get 25-30k miles easy out of them on the road(probably more on a ranger, but thats what i get with fullsize trucks)

if ur gonna just be playing in alot of sand when u do go offroad just get the all terrains, thats what there designed for

The KM2's will wear insanely faster than the all terrains due to a totally differnet tread compound, much softer. The AT's will get close to 80k miles if you run em til the end. I got 12k out of mine with 10% on them. You wont get that out of a mud terrain, I dont care how well you drive. However AT's suck in everything but sand/snow. I got stuck in pine needles with them. So make sure you know what your application is befor egetting them, or just get a set of wheels and used mudders from craigslist for when you do wheel.

I've got a set of their 31 10.5 15 BFG AT lookalikes on my mom's s10 and I plan to get a set of their Goodyear MTR lookalikes on my Mazda B2600 when I get the money. Read their testimonials, even their MTs are supposed to get really good mileage.

I would get A/t's if plan on going on alot of sand because mud tires love to dig in unless you have alot of power to spin the wheels like paddles.

I have had good luck with my Mickey T MTZ's though, got them used with about 10,000 miles and have put over 30 more on them and they still have atleast 40% left.

Sorry guys, I gotta call I had a set of 35" BFG MT's on my truck and drove 30 miles each way to work...I got right at 50K miles out of those tires and I got them used. Grant it the guy I got them from just bought them and put just enough miles to take the knubbies off, but still got damn good miles out of them...I still have one left that I use as a spare that has about 15% tread left...

If you ever are going to even consider driving in the mud, get the KM2's....the All Terrains will let you down time and time again. They may last longer but in the mud they don't self clean and gum up fast. I have about 32K left on my BFG AT's and they have sucked from day one in the mud. Good thing there isn't alot of mud here in CA.

x2! i'm running the AT's and they're great. will buy more for sure when (if) these wear out. 30+k and still well over half the tread is still there.

most of the time people that say dont rud mud terrains because of tread wear have never actually put 50k miles on a set of mud terrains, ive had some tires(all beit ground hawgs)run for 85-100k miles underneath a ranger

its really hard to judge mileage on tires, one person can only get 15k miles and the next gets double that, so it really isnt anything to argue about anyways
