Sup fellas. I'm James from NC.

I used to be on the boards a long long time ago, back in like 2004 when I still owned my old ranger, but I can't remember my old username or password.

Well I got me another ranger project truck, so I'm back. This one's an '86 reg cab longbed 4x4, currently with the 2.9 in it. Plans are to build a 302 to go in it, swap out the 7.5 for an 8.8, and do a mild restoration.

Here's some pics of the new truck, the first 2 are the ones the guy that I bought it from sent me, and the last one is once I finally got it home, which is another story in itself.

Welcome to TRS James...

Nice looking old Ranger...should be an interesting build...

And I do remember someone with an avatar like yours...maybe it's one from the site here...

Please continue with the narrative, James-

Well....

I bought the truck from a guy that lives close to the shore, about 225 miles away from where I live. So we had a few conversations over the phone, and a few text messages and I ended up committing to buy it, and we agreed to meet Sunday around lunch. He insisted that the truck would make it back home so I leave the trailer and get my brother in law to take me in his little toyota truck to save gas.

We get there, look the truck over, he tells a few lies, and I buy the truck and leave to come back home with it. About 75 miles in, the truck quits running and I can't get it to start back, so we had to leave it on the side of the road 150 miles from home and I had to pull the trailer down the next day and bring it back home, and to top it off the trailer doesn't pull good so I couldn't go above 55 or it would start swaying.

Now I've got $60 for gas in the toyota, $40 in the ranger, and $95 in the Suburban and around 15 hours driving back and forth to get it home.

That adventure has a big ouch !! I certainly hope you'll get the Ranger reliable to drive-
