My truck has blown 2 master cylinders, since my axle swaps. 78 disc outers on my EB 44, and 78 big drums on my narrowed 9".

I have had the same failure both times, the seals on the piston for the front brakes goes bad, leaving me with a mushy pedal and no front brakes.

The first master was original to the truck w/ 275k on it, the one I replaced 2 years ago was brand-new. I have a lifetime warranty on the new one so getting one isn't an issue. Also, I've never had a problem bringing 35"s 36"s or even 38"s to a stop very quickly, and always had a good solid pedal with any amount of applied pressure.

Is there a direct fit upgrade I should do, or could this just be a bad part? Are 78 F-150 calipers and wheel cylinders too much for the OEM master?

99 dodge 2500 gas engine brake master is a direct bolt on upgrade, bringing the bore diameter to 1.25". Give that a shot, the ranger reservoir even fits right on.

I ran F150 calipers front and explorer calipers rear for 100,000k with no issue on the master with 300k on it from factory.

I am having the same problem with my master cylinder I have dana 44 front and back with disk. I will have to give the dodge one a try thanks

Thanks Andrew. That master wouldn't be too much for my booster, would it?

Kage is the one that pointed it out to me, I haven't had a chance to run it yet in my truck... I'll be plumbing all new lines and a line lock this weekend.
