I have a 91 ranger ext cab 4x4. I have a couple of friends that have kids and would like to take them with me in my truck but don't know if its safe there both about 3. Is it safe to put a car seat in the front of my truck?
I just bought a 98 supercab and I had the same question. My kids are 4 and 6. I took my truck to the local police station where they have a car/booster seat inspection and clinic. They recommend the car seat be placed in the front seat rear facing for babies and forward facing for toddlers. They do not recommend placing any car seats in the rear jump seat area. They also say if your truck is eqiuipped with air bags to turn it off when the child is in the car seat up front.

when i had my '88 i put the car seat in the back, securly fastened to the jump-seat, there just wasnt enough room up front and my wife wouldnt fit in the back of the cab, couldnt drive stick either, the owners manual cautions not to use the jump seats for child car seats, but i just didnt have a better option, until my child was about 2 and we got a astro van for the wife to drive.
