I got a kicker zx200.2 amp for my birthday yesterday. It is a 2 channel amp and puts out 100watts per channel at 2ohms. I have 4 speakers rated at 60watts at 4 ohms. I should be able to wire the speakers in parallel ( 2 and 2) so each will receive 50watts, right? Should I step up to the zx250.2 which is 125watts per channel? all of these watts are rms.

Any one have any experience with this amp or this line of amps? thanks

You will be fine with the 200.2 the only thing is you will lose fader contol from front to back if you hook up each side to each channel.

would i be better off with the 250.2 or would the difference not be noticeable? And it I wired the front 2 and back 2 together it would be the same deal and i would lose left right, right?

you should be fine with the 200.
and yes to the front and rear question

would there be any advantage to using a 4 channel amp over a 2 channel besides fade?

no the 200 will work just fine, if you got a 4ch you would need a bigger one since you could only run it at 4ohms per channel.

well i was looking at the zx350.4 http://signature.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Default.aspx?i=2068ZX3504&search=zx350.4&ssi=0&skipvs=T
which has the rating I want per channel. I know not to buy it from crutchfield because theyre really expensive.

I am also thinking the zx250.2. It is just a little bit more power than the 200 so if the price difference isnt much I think it would be a better option for me.

As for wiring in parallel, do i just run wires from each speaker to the channels. i.e 2 speakers wired to one channel and 2 to the other. Or is it something like wire from channel to one speaker then from 1st speaker to second speaker and then back to channel?

Also does anyone have any recommendations for a similar amp in the same price range, name brand only?

thanks for the help

you would just wire in parallel to get to a 2 ohm load, the second way you described was series which would bring you to 8 ohms.

either amp would be good, with the 4ch you would just have a bit more adjustments such as front/rear fade and having seperate crossovers and gains for your front and rear speakers.

right. thanks couldnt remember exactly how the wiring went.

so basically if the 4ch one isnt too much more itd be better, but i dont really need it.

thanks

for less than you are spending on that amp you could get this one:

aq4x90controlangle.jpg

i used to run kicker everything (KX350.2+KX550.2+15"L7)and i like my aq amps more personally, both are underrated and sound great but the aq amps have much better crossovers.

With the 4ch i linked you have a lot of possibilities.
you can run 4 speakers, 1 per channel and get 90w each,

you can run 1 set of components active and use the amps xovers to fine tune everything, (crossover point, midrange bandpass and seperate gain for tweeter and mid)

you can run all 4 door speakers off 2 channels (60w ea speaker, 120w per side) and run a sub off the other 2 (240w rms) it also has a subsonic filter + lpf for the rear channels if your using it to power a sub in a ported box.

there are lots of options out there, im just recomending this amp since i am very satisfied with mine. i am running my tweeters off 2 channels and my mids off 2 channels.

I've found a few more I'd like you guys' opinion on:

I still think im going to go with a kicker, probably the zx350.4 or zx250.2, unless one if these really is significantly better.

loud ranger- that amp is actually a little more than im looking to spend. Id like to keep it under $400. The zx200.2 was around $110 but im not sure how much they go up from there. If its alot then ill just stick with the 200. thanks

sorry i just used the price of the zx350.4 off crutchfield, missed the part about buying from there. Is 400 your budget for the whole system?

sorry I meant $200. my bad. and no just amp, thats all thats left that im planning to do right now. I might add a sub or 2 depending on what it sounds like after the amp.
