key swap

I know there is a million forms on this but i cant find a straghit forward answer to swapping the keys out of my 08 ranger sport to an 06 key to get around 2.25" has anyone done this? just cranking the old keys only gets me about an 1". im about to head to the wreacker to grab some but i dont want to waste my time going there taking 06 ones off then putting them back on my 08 to find out it dosent work

I finished reading this, moved on, and it wasn't until about 5 minutes later that I realized he was talking about torsion keys.
