I was looking at the 2.9 K&N Filter Set-Up in the Tech Library. And i understand how to take off the vacuum hose and that it needs to be plugged. but it doesn't say anything about what to do with the hot air hose coming from the exhaust manifold. I know i take it off but is that all i do or do i cap it or something?

u just take it off, it does nothing now, doesnt need capped, just off

If you really want to try that kind of setup, then all you need to plug up is the vacuum, no need to do anything with the end of the hot air tube. and maybe read some older threads on running "cold air intakes"(warm/hot air intakes)on the 2.9s. the views are mixed but in the end its up to you. good luck

I don't mean to "jack" the thread but do most 2.9's have a warm air hose? My airbox was broken when I got it so I looked at the junk yard and all the 2.9's there had a different box. Mine never had this warm air hose. I used a cone air filter clamped on my air intake hose instead. I have found that in the winter it helps mpg to block off or unhook outside air for the motor since the air through the radiator is pretty cold anyway when its cold outside. BTW my Ranger came from PA.
