hey guys...

this is JWKnight12's truck, im only his good friend who made him a build thread behind his back..:thefinger:

The truck is a 1990 ford ranger 4x4 2.9 V6..

he scored this truck for a ridicoulous price of... $130!

jerk... i know right?

heres the truck when HE first got it...

looks to clean to cut up eh?

wrong.

thing was all bondo. litterally.

but, engine ran like a top, interior was showroom fresh... i mean SHOWROOM.

so, little background info, we live up in the Upper penisnula of michigan.
way up north.

so there is no, i mean no prerunners anywhere.

so were attempting the first one up here.

so he did some work to it, primer job, gutted the rear fenders for the prerunner look, and we mounted one today, then it started to rain...

so here is a mock up look with the tires
(fender looks crooked because its not bolted on all the way)

say what you want, but its a start, and we have less that $200 into it!:icon_bounceblue:

so.. thats it... now for the questions...

this will be a daily driver for JWK, so it will need to be practical.

but we need help on SUSPENSION!

shocks?

just need tips, we have $0 to put into it, so we need some ghetto nig-rig tricks to get this to settttt of the jumps..

any ideas?

Thanks guys...

oh and here is a little preview of what Joxracing and JWK can do together...

thanks guys...

You kids can weld? Build some extended radius arms, F250 shock towers, longer shocks, flip the rear shackles or run a longer shackle or both (be prepare to lose height though). While you have the welder out you should weld the rear end up. Weld up a bumper and a rear tire mount/bed cage and run some longer shocks.

But before you do any of this you two should get jobs or mow some lawns or something. Learn that "prerunner", "cheap" and "free" are hardly used in the same sentence unless its "Wanna grab some CHEAP food in my PRERUNNER? It's buy one get one FREE!!"

Dammit I just lol'd in the middle of Starbucks!!

Jox, nice find for $130, good luck on the build:icon_thumby: I'll give you this piece of advice, since you mention it's 4x4.. If you're keeping it 4wd check out Autofab for their LT kits, might at least give you some ideas on what you can do since you said you have $0 budget.

in the same situation guys, lol im 16 living in kentucky, there isnt crap on the east coast is there? and yea, take blums advice, get a job. hell i work at little caesars making pizzas and because im not payin for insurance or gas yet all the money goes to the truck or my dirtbike...

i get accused of prerunner wannabe.

Did you do it yourself? If so what kind of paint did you use and where did you get it? Im planning on doing the same with my 83

Whats up dude< nice to see you hear from the shoptalk

soo youre gonna put the bedsides on like if they where fiberglass.. okay,
well i gotta say its a start.. well when you weld in the mounts for the bedsides push the corners out of the fenders soo they look more like fiberglass.
well my advice is that if its gonna be real cheap build then you coul put a spacer in the front springs soo you get a lift, maybe cut out the stock shock mount and put a higher one in and get some bigger shocks maybe of a f250 o somehting .. maybe even cut the shock mount of the f250 and bolt it in or weld it in...?
buy some big shocks theyre are a few out there that are pretty cheap like a 150 each maybe less , i know that the ones that dont have reservoirs are cheaper they are called emulsion shocks fox has some 2.0,, also the procomp ones that have bushings instead of the sphearical bearings are cheaper and should damn well do the trick. and then fab some mounts...

well sad moment.

my buddy traded his ranger for a POS f-250.

his kicking himself in the ass, just like i told him...

Hey VW505, what the heck are you doing here?

hope you guys dont mind, but im gonna kind of hangout here and lurk a little bit, because i just love these runners, as soon as i scrap up some cash and stop buying VW's, im gonna try to pick up a ranger...
