just won a police interceptor 4.6 and trans !!!!

ok i really hope i can make tis work but i wanted to ask some questions, i just won a police interceptor on ebay for $11.00!!!!!! good motor good trans!!!!!! i am gonna have to drive 7 hrs to pick it up but i am still pretty excited. i have been wanting to do a v8 swap . i was holding out for a 302 but for 11 buks i have to try. i see that its been done but i was wondering without me being a "master welder" am i about to spend WAAY more money than needed??

yeah buddy motor and trans straight out of a cop car.....dont come with computers or harness but i figured i could work something out ,lol. if not i got a thunderbird that could use the motor. but i really wanna make it work in my ranger

Heres a build thread of a guy who had just put the exact same setup into his 2001 edge. I know the frame are different and whatnot but theres alot of good information what he had to do to get it running. IIRC, the police dont have the PATS on them so that will make your life eaiser when it comes to wiring it all up and whatnot. Make sure you get all the wiring needed and the computer too.

With an $11 selling price, plus the fact that it's from a police car (these things are run into the dirt before they're retired) I think you're likely to find that it would have been cheaper to just mail the $11 to the guy and move on.

Or go pick it up and tote it straight to the local scrap yard and recoup some of your money on it. I don't think it'll be worth the 14 hrs thought (R/T)

It has been done but it ain't pretty in a TTB truck.

If it is anything I say sell it and the 2wd trans and find a more compatablie setup.

ok its getting sold then, i dont have time to fool with all the extra problems. . could i get a mustang 5.0 motor/manual trans combo and make it work. i found one for 450, wanted to ask first,lol

as far as i know it will have everything , i was talking to a friend this morning about my 4.6 and he told me i needed his motor,lol. he just totaled his stang and wants the dead corpse removed from his yard. haha i figure i can cut the stang up and scrap it and the motor wont cost barely anything. . .

Exactly what i did!!!!
Except i ran over my mustang when i was done. Paid $400 for my 86 gt. drove it home, it was krylon white, with a sawzall t-top lol. (mesican owned it).
