Just when i had made up my mind...

Congrats. Remember when you were a kid and could ride in the bed of pickup truck. Can't do that anymore unless you want a bunch of Karen's yelling at you... :p

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa - Rotten Tomatoes

Damn Karen’s!! Really can’t do anything that we done as kid’s! Which kid’s these day’s aren’t raised like we were either! Was raised by my grandparent’s and was raised to have respect for people! Wasn’t worth it, the consequence’s. Had my share of hickory switches lol!

So here I am at the car show. Just as I thought: nobody cares about a 20 year old restored Ford Ranger. They put me back in a corner. It's a plain Jane princess and no one comes over.

Meanwhile some dude rolls in with a brand new Lotus, the belle of the ball, It can barely hold a suitcase in the back, let alone a stack of 2x4 studs and a wheel barrow full of patio blocks. It draws a crowd right away. People just don't understand.

Sorry Gump. I've hijacked your thread again.

I understand what you mean Lefty! It’s sad no one appreciates quality! Ask them where’s that lotus gonna be in 20 years, especially if it gets drove any! I know the lotus isn’t something that you would drive everyday! I couldn’t afford one and if I could, it wouldn’t be my first choice no way! Rather have a fox body mustang any day. Hopefully you enjoy yourself Lefty! Stand proud with your Ranger!!!!

Clean Ranger by the way Lefty!👍

My grandfather was the town road agent(they call that highway superintendent now), ran a construction business and owned a sawmill. My cousins and I worked for him during school vacations and often rode in the bed of trucks. One summer he was building a road around Goose Pond(2-3 miles from where I live now) and we'd ride in his 1962 F250 with him to the job site. I was taller so my cousin rode in the middle and I sat on the right side- with my feet on the box of dynamite that was on the floor. He bought a crate of dynamite at a time but didn't use it up too fast so sometimes it got old and the sticks would "sweat"- nitro glycerin would bead up on the outside. He smoked his pipe all the way to the job. I'm so thankful for all the time I got to spend with him.

Thank you Bronco ii Man! Like Uncle Gump, I'm just waiting for the family fun to subside and leave me alone. My summer's plans include removing the tub and restoring the frame on the Ranger.

My work may not impress anyone at the car show, maybe not even the oil change crew at Jiffy Lube, but it will stop the rust and become a very nice legacy for my grandson.

@Lefty I wouldn't feel to bad honestly. At least the people didn't flock to a PT Cruiser... and you lose the popularity contest to it. Losing the contest to a Lotus... you should still sleep good at night.

These trucks never really got any respect... they were cheap and they made millions. Probably the best you'll get is the occasional car guy saying... "that's a really clean older Ranger you got there"... despite all of your efforts to take great care of it.

I got one of those moments the other day when the fella that replaced my Driver Air Bag death charger said... "this is the probably the nicest Ranger I've seen in years".... "but tell me about that Bronco II sitting there".

Look at post #2 again.

I expected wwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more outta this crew.

We have something very special in common, Uncle Gump. We take care about our cheap little trucks. But they are not just ours. Someday they will be passed on to our grandchildren. And when that happens, it won't matter if that Ranger is not a Lotus. It will give them something to remember, miles of smiles.

Aw hell...

I might as well...

Bomb this thread...

Like I've lost my head.
