Just Plain Stupied

Looking good mate. I can't wait to hear the beast through those mufflers. Maybe we'll get lucky and you can snag another flamethrower vid...maybe one that works this time. :headbang:

I'm gonna try a different setting on the camera to see if I can get some decent video of the engine/exhaust later tonite.....

say how did you trash the oil filter?

I was using the cut-off wheel to shorten a section of the exhaust near the oil filter.....and......wackkkkkkk....1" gash !(i didn't want metal dust to get in the engine cavity...so i left the filter in place while i did the mods...)

i'm tryin to download some test video....if it works....I'll post it....

Mn......you did it first!!!!

Now check out post #1322......I managed to get about 30 seconds of the V8 running with the exhausts connected before the camera got stupied!

and on that note.... where can i find an SBC!:icon_welder:

Those harley mufflers sound fan-friggin-tastic. You've got me wanting to put them on my Lima now. Maybe just one will do the trick.

Badass truck, it really is.

That sound is just phenomenal. I never would've thought about Harley mufflers on a V8. Consider me blown away.

thanks guys.....it sounds twice as good in reeeel life!

and I got the mini-cat off the 2.9L installed on the left side.....you can really see and smell the difference between the left & right mufflers.....the cat side doesn't produce the eye-burning carbon smoke & has a deeper rumble....

the right side is sooty with some water condensation & burns your eyes when standing directly behind it (and no......not looking into the muffler with my eyeball pressed against the outlet!!!.....that would leave a black ring around my eye!!!)

Definately gonna get another Ranger mini-cat for the other side (mini-cat = the smaller cat in the 2.9L OEM exhaust system)

I'm not a fan of cats (converters or 4-legged)....but this is proof to me for a daily driver that it runs a lot cleaner!

EDIT: Ima try to see if my phone will get any video today longer than 39 seconds that the computer will recognize....

So DG ur saying the cats improved the sound?

So DG ur saying the cats improved the sound?

Only with the set-up I'm using/it smoothed the sound out & made it mellow/also cleaned up the exhaust smell & eye-burning fumes ****however if you like it loud n' nasty....ignore the cats.....LOL!!

The Harley mufflers sticking out the back are the only mufflers under the truk!!!!!!.....

The header is bolted on/extension tube is modified and bolted tight to the collector with the outlet pointing exactly where I want like in the pic....

...then go 6' (approx. at the rear of the cab to avoid a hot floor-board) and install nearly new mini-cat off of 2.9L engine using the flex-joint on the front of the cat adapted to the header extension tube like in the pic....

then from the cat---go over the axle to Harley muffler...

(I used a bit extension shaft connected to the largest hole-cutting saw that would fit inside the Harley muffler...I dripped some oil into the muffler while I ran the drill at about 50 rpm to keep from wearing the teeth off the hole saw.....it took about 15 minutes drilling from both ends of the muffler to cut thru all the baffles....then I got a mechanics extendable magnet and pulled/shook all the loose pieces outta the muffler....then did the same thing on the other header set-up)...

Souns like my Harley with 6 extra cylinders :icon_surprised: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bondo.....thanks.....it's slowly turning out to be a really good daily driver....now if people would quit asking so many questions at traffic-lights!!!!....just kidding....

kids want to sit in it......really old people (older than me!!!) tell me about when they used to own a truck like it that they bought for $500 brand new when they just got out of high school.....1936!!!!!!

Now to start putting the fenders/grill/hood back together.......
