i droped out of sckool at the end of 10th grade, i had a B- average too, but goin to school in a ghetto area of california was something i couldn't stand, all the fights, (i had to fight with a screwdriver once cause some1 pulled a knife on me) and $hithead liberal teachers with there ideas realy made me wana blow school up, but i was more sane than that, so i didn't return to 11th grade, best thing i ever did, i feel smarter too, and last month i took a highschool equilency test and pased. so when im 17 in 2 weeks, i can take my GED and get it over with. hardest part is usually the topic for the essays,they always try to make u write something to make u feel for the intercity welfare ppl, or make u feel bad for polution or some retardted thing like that. for a job, my family is gona buy a farm ima work on for $$$

Choose your education wisely. My bachelor's is in History and Political Science. What is it good for? Not much other then being a stepping stone for the master's program I will be working on now. Paycheck from Bachelor's in History? not much. Paycheck from Master of Landscape Architecture? Starting between 60 & 70K. The look on government organizations when they have a conservative running their environmental impact studies? priceless.

stick with it man. get as much education as you can. dont stop at the ged. do whatever you can. my only regret is not doing any of this sooner. i wish i would have never dropped out, i missed out on so many opportunities. plus, if youre with a girl that has a diploma and you dont, she'll use that to make you feel stupid lol

When I was nineteen I went to the county learning center to get my GED. After an aptitude test they discovered I needed no additional schooling to pass and gave me the test a few weeks later. My scores were in the top 1% of the state, which is equal to winning the Special Olympics. Later on when I was at the learning center going over my test scores one of the women asked me "What are you going to do with that big brain of yours?" I couldn't think of an answer. That's okay though, because now that building is one of my customers as I kill bugs for a living.



Part of my job is meeting all sorts of people and I can't even begin to tell you how many college people I meet that are just plain dumb. I do meet quite a few of them that are rather intelligent as well, but when it comes down to it a degree is just a piece of paper. It's not a degree that determines who is intelligent and who is stupid, it's the person that determines that.


Am I proud of my job? No. However, it pays the bills and allows me an opportunity to learn independently about the topics I'm interested in. I went to a horrible high school where most of the kids were more worried about not getting attacked by the self proclaimed "Gangs" that got mad when you didn't let them steal whatever they wanted. Obviously with kids like that, the school was populated with unmotivated teachers that basically showed up for a paycheck and had no real interest in teaching. I switched schools and found the same thing there, perhaps it's just how Delaware is. At any rate, I dropped out because I was tired of not learning anything.


Had I known back then how going to a school like that would affect my life I may have pushed really hard to have my mother send me to a private school. But that's not the hand I was dealt, so I'm making the best of what I was given.


Congrats on your GED mate. Make the best of what you can and whether it's through college or not, don't ever stop learning.

were i movin too, most ppl dont even got a 10th grade education, or know what a ged is, actually, im gona do an aprenticeship thingy this summer, its to get me certified in pc repairs, as i already do that now, mabey i should aprentice for auto repair or get a job at pick-n-pull

Weeeeelllllll, I gradjeated high school in 93. From there I spent 8 years getting my edjumacation, doing the whole working 4 jobs and going to school at night bit. Taught 7th grade Texas History for a year and then decide to go back to landscaping and spent seven years running a business and getting my contractors license. At that, I FAILED. Big time. Whoops....time for a career change. Starting this August at Washington State University in their Master's of Landscape Architecture program which will take me 3 years (if it all goes according to plan) to complete.

Soooooooooooooooooooo.............a long eight years of college for a four year degree, 8 years of the University of Life and at least another three to go. So not really all that much schooling, just a long time to get it done. That is what happens when you PAY FOR YOUR OWN SHIT.

So by the time I am done I will have an Associates Degree, a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree, State of Oregon Landscape Contractors License (not the easiest thing to get here), 10 years of work experience at one job, 7 years of business ownership, 1 year of teaching, One destroyed neck vertebrae, two Carpal Tunnel infested hands (actually, one got fixed. the other still drops shit), a bad back, a numb face and bad hearing, more chemicals in my liver than I care for, and a bankruptcy.

Congrats on the GED!

I didn't drop out, I just didn't graduate, I hated (and still do) school and just didn't really care. I've got a decent job with full benefits but I still plan on getting my GED. I was thinking about going down next week after work sometime and signing up, it's only like $75..
