I guess when it comes to jobs its all about who you know, not being an educated idiot owing everyone for the financial aid money you didnt spend on school. It all about learning a trade, f&@$ college.

I used to think the same thing. I'd probably be alright, between side jobs, my job now, and investing and moving money around. I'm good at it. However, There is absolutely no way you can secure a job that requires a college degree, without actually having the degree. Unless you have 3-4 years of experience in that field, you won't even be considered. It USED to be all about who you knew, but it's not anymore. It's all about what you know.

around here, cnc is very big. alot of the orthopedic companies are based here and always looking for more people. i plan on taking the cnc route. some of them start at 20+/hr. not bad. average starting pay for them is around 14

Congrats man! I have 3 more classes to get my 2nd Associates degree and a BS in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Expected grad date June 2012.

congrats man i got mine about a year and ahalf to two years ago it was so easy i was worried about passing it too and i took mine a year after i droped out

Well i guess its where you live and who you know, around here there are plenty of good jobs if you look. Most people who go to college think their shit doesnt stink, put them back in reality and they show just how ignorant and dumb its made them. Just my opinion.

around here if you go to college it really doesnt help you. you have to know the right people to get a good job. i know for a fact because i went to a tech school for welding and couldnt find a job even though alot of places were hiring so i talked to my teacher and he went with me to get a job and boom i had one the first time

I beg to differ on this. I work for IU, Indiana University, and there are a couple employees that got their position because of family relationships. 1 got his job as an Engineers bitch/easy shit/data base accuracy because his uncle is the lead Engineer for NLR. The other person got her job because her father is a lead engineer on campus and several other networks. It is bullshit! :annoyed: Granted I am now working on my engineering degree but they would not even give me a look. At least in the military you even your rank and position. Rant over.

I'm glad you got your GED.

Some people don't have any respect for that, but I do...... my mom got hers at 30 years old with 3 kids, worked her way through college and is an accountant now. Everybody has to start somewhere.

BTW: I graduated from college last spring..... and ladeeda, nobody gives a sh!t.... last job I went for they asked for my HS diploma, I said... don't you want my college diploma? they said nope, but I guess since you have it out we can make a copy. Either way I got the job... and it's still manual labor.

A college degree now......... just makes you more likely to get the low paying industrial jobs out there. People with a lot more education than me are reading meters for the city, and driving ups trucks.

It depends on what you are doing whether they care about that college diploma... I'd like to get a research position at a major university, try getting that without a degree, heck, try getting that without a PhD., lol... You can't just do that because of 'who you know'... BDAB, yes, I'm talking University level, I couldn't work at a high school, lol...

either way, im happy. it was something i wanted to do for myself, and i did it. i dont care to have all the money in the world. college degree or not a ged opens up a lot more opportunites than i had before.

Yea your pretty much set congrats man! I dont think i mentioned it yet.

Congrats man. dont let people bring you down because you didn't get a hs diploma. i have many a friends that didn't even take the inishitive to get a ged and now they're paying for it. you can never go wrong by bettering yourself and furthering your education
