First thing is to learn to drive it real well...No point in fixxing up a car that you are going to wreck the first time you drive in the rain. Not saying you are a bad driver...

Then, decide what direction you want to go with it...You want to go low, or get high? You like speed, offroading, music, or whatever? A lot of knowledgable people around here that can help when you decide what you want to do....Now adays anything is possible when funds/know how is available.

Congrats on your new truck...first cars/trucks are always the best.

Its a low mileage truck so its probably pretty sound mechanically. What kind of sound system is in it. Maybe tint the windows but I think Coleosis is right, drive it a while before spending much money on it and see how it goes. You spend a wad on it and in a year you're taste may change, that still happens to me and I'm old enough to be you're father. LOL.
Congrats on you're truck.

yea figure out if your really into it or not! taste could be for speed or wheeling.
if speed then thats not really for you!

if your going to haul alot airbags a must for the rear or stiff suspension (but ruff rides when the bed is empty.)(no im not talking about airbags like these fools who dont know what hydrolic pumps are!)

BTW I forgot something, a sliding rear window is always nice.

hey with is year of truck he should have a/c & isnt r fking 12 :D

but still nice to have when wolling in the winter with heater full & rear window open for a confortable breeze

make your mind, gather some ideas and then ask here to help u to get them done:D.
thats what i do with mine.

Portal axles or rocks, Big block, a few transfer cases, a cage, and some tractor tires

Or:

Some bent beams 4" over, coils overs, and a cage w/ a super charged 5.0

Or:

A 460 stroked to a 547 with a gnarly blower, a little bit of drop, a narrowed 9" 35 spline molly rear, and some fat mofo'in slicks.

Or leave it stock and spend money on your future. Which is what I should of done.

Hot damn, rangers are like meth.

If you don't know how to work on it.....learn. Start reading about it. When I was 16 I was afraid to take the wingnut off the air breather. Then the car I was allowed to drive broke down so my step dad made me a deal that if I fixed it I could have it. I went to my two older cousins for help. They were gear heads and helped me and taught me a lot. They also loaned me a stack of car magazines and books. If you don't have any tools start by getting a basic set. If you can do even simple things yourself you can save a ton of money. It feels really good to fix or take care of a car or truck yourself. Keep it in tune and everything running right then if something goes wrong it's usually much easier to find out what the problem is. When something breaks fix it as soon as you can or you can end up with a bunch of little things that drive you crazy and take down the value of the truck. When I was young the first thing I had to have was a stereo and cool wheels......but on the first few vehicles I left the really important things undone like changing the oil or giving it a tune up and got left with a non running car to be sold for next to nothing. Thankfully I have never blown an engine due to my own abuse/neglect :) Also don't beat on the thing all the time,if you do something will sooner or later break.

just get some nice bfg's for it a/t's are nice but m/ts are sexxy. good exhaust some tint and a good radio ( a/t's last a good long time and are better for rain gas mileage and such) but as its your first truck.. dont put alot into it because odds are that your gonna kill it in your first year of driving

and it aint no speed daemon so i dont wanna see you racing civics in it

congrats we have the same truck except mines white and has 120k on it. You are very lucky to find a 99 with such low milage. If it has a drop in bedliner(which both of our trucks came with) invest in a spray in bedliner as water and dirt will get between the liner and the bed and you will develop a rust issue. Beyond that all you need is what you want. I recommend getting rims as my stock ones bent too easy. also may I ask whether it's a 5 speed or auto?

its has an Automatic transmission. and ty all for the advice. i thank i want some bigger tires. any suggestions?

I wouldn't go bigger than 31'' due to the fact that my sig already applies to your truck as well(I have the auto tranny). the larger you go the more loss of power you feel. Maybe just cranking the Tbars and the tires would fit really well.

Also you need to make a show off your truck thread is I wanna get a better look at my truck in a different color:drool:

Edit you lucky bastard got the 3.0 and not the 2.5. I still think 31's with the torsion cranked a little would look great!

Also don't beat on the thing all the time,if you do something will sooner or later break.

THAT is the best advise you could have gotten, and i wish i would have paid attention to it when i got it, it WILL bite you in the ass

Also I need to recommend Alpine SPS speakers. I have no need for a sub or amp however I may just do it anyway. But these speakers or great!

I agree 100%. Thats why I baby mine and people wonder why an 11 year old truck gets such treatment. they say "I would just beat on it" and I say ":icon_thumby: for you now go :thefinger: off
