So stoked right now, just got accepted to Okanagan College in Vernon B.C. to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - M ticker, mostly posting to see who else has done this course / taken this as a career and what you thought / think of it. Will be commuting about 40 minutes each day to and from, so the ranger will get some usage, no doubt!

Congrats man!

The pilots are going to need somebody to bitch at when they can't fly right.

Congrats man. I didn't go for airplane stuff, but I tell you what, there is no better feeling than when you walk across that stage and get your diploma.

Just remember to stick with it. Especially when it gets hard. The harder the course/assignment/task the better you feel when you finish it.

It will be interesting for sure. I got the phone call this afternoon, that I would have missed had my boss not been hung over, and they said someone dropped out so I'm up to bat. I had been told previously that I was #19 in the waiting list of 35 students. They had to change the course some, obviously a fair amount if that many people dropped out! So I now have 17 days before I leave and start classes in 22 days... time to get my sh*t together!

congratulations. glad to see other people wanting to go to college. i graduated this year from high school, got accepted to the college of my dreams. i talked to the admissions lady there and i talked about taking a year off to help out pay some of the cost to help out my mom.

but i wish you the best of luck and make sure you stick with it, i know most of my family members didnt even graduate high school and i dont want to struggle like them. what specifically are you going to be doing?

Good on you for taking a year off to make things a little easier, that's exactly what I did. Put some money in the bank (try not to spend too much on the ranger haha) and get a little life experience outside of school. As for what I will be doing, it ranges from Mechanics (my fav aspect), to structures, electronics, avionics, hydraulics, ect. Basically anything that has to do with an aircraft, fixed wing or helicopter, i can and will be certified to fix it. Best part is that due to an issue with the partnering school, I will get 7 months of Co-op experience instead of the usual 2.5 months.
