Just found this and talked to her, will it work?

If you can get the entire drive train and all the wiring it should work fine...is you truck a standard or extended cab?

the donor truck is standard cab so the only problem would be the drive shaft length if you get everything else...and I'd want to buy the whole thing so I have everything in place when I take it out to swap...

Phhh that will buff right out no prob. How much?

Well nevermind, she had her boyfriend call me back to discuss further details and it turns out he wants $1,000.00 for the engine.

May be worth it, but a little out of my price range right now.

I found this though:http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/pts/694626265.html

The guy's name is Kevin and he said he'll take $300.00 for the engine.

Much better deal if you also get the related parts

Yeah, I'd go for the 2.5 litre...but I'd take the tranny too...that way you don't have to mix and match...and it's almost as easy to install it with the tranny attached...but if you've got the 2.3 it should bolt right up to your existing transmission...

I would take the tranny with it but I just replaced my tranny 2-3 months ago and I don't need it. Mines working great!

I don't have the $1,000 so it looks like I'm going with the $300 dollar one.
