Hello everyone, new (2nd) ranger owner here. My first truck was a 99 4.0 4wd auto, bought it with 160k, long story short, had some trans problems, installed superior 5r55e shift kit, drove the truck to 230k with no problems and sold.
To today, I just bought a 2006 2wd 3.0 auto with 120k miles. This truck seems to shift well, but I want to do some preventative maintenance as I hope to get as many miles or more out of this truck.
I had planned on installing a superior kit in this truck as well, and also adding an external spin on trans filter, however I just found out this truck actually uses the 5r44e. I was wondering if I should even bother with the Superior kit since it's a different trans, and also 7 years newer. Has ford made improvements since 99, or should I just get the kit and stick in in?
Thanks!
