Hey all, I just bought an 83 ranger 4x4 with a broken rear driveline for $100. It starts and drives in 4wd that's how I loaded it on the trailer to bring it home.
I got to looking under the hood and noticed a lot of unhooked connections and I'm not sure what they are to and if I should hook them up or where they go. Here are some pictures
Not sure what this is

Here is another pic of that with a unhooked connector

Another unhooked connector

And another

This connector looks like it would plug into the one in the second picture

Unhooked red connector and a shot of the harness for the one in the last pic

And lastly this hose, it looks like it goes down into the exhaust

Thanks in advance

A lot of those look like they are for sensors or cruise control.

Post a pic of the distributor, maybe it's been durasparked.

Picture 1: is an air temperature sensor and goes into the big hole in the side of the air filter housing, there's a retaining clip missing unless its inside that air filter housing, if not you will need to find one or that sensor will keep falling out.

Picture 2: That 3 pin connector isn't plugged into anything on my Bronco 2, so I don't know what it goes to.

Picture 3: That connector plugs into a connector on the driver's side next to the carburetor, there's a vacuum line that runs along there with a couple of purge solenoids on it, one of those has the other part of that connector attached to it.

Picture 4: That 4 pin connector, connects to the idle speed control motor.

Picture 5: This is one end of the connector that goes along with picture 6 LOL.

Picture 6: That connector goes to the vacuum motor which is on the passenger side fender, then the other end is supposed to be attached to a rail below the vacuum lines and motors.

Picture 7: That hose goes to the catalytic converter. At one time your vehicle had a Smog pump on it which that hose connected to which pulled exhaust gases back through the engine and reburned them.

Hope this helps you out.

Might want to get some electronic parts cleaner.

The big red one is the Diagnostic connector. It should just have a cover over it to keep dirt out. The three pin and the two blade connector look like the ones that were on the air conditioner on my 2.9.
