I just picked this up a couple days ago and already have ideas swirling around. I'm hoping to have a nice clean DD truck by the time i'm done with it. Its an 88, 2.3l, 2wd, 5spd, and only 15kmi! Actually I think the odo rolled over and its 115, but still in great shape either way.
For a northeastern truck its in damn good shape for an 88! Still needs a few little odds and ends though, some paint touchup, new suspension and bushings all round, new tires, add spray in bedliner etc... Its going to be my winter project, more fun than sitting at home bored for sure. I used to work as an auto mechanic and had a few project cars, offroad Jeep XJ, a Subaru WRX STi, but having a wife and kid now I just want to keep it simple with a nice little and practical truck.
Eventually I want to convert it to 4x4, tear the truck down to the frame to bedline the frame and bottom of the body and floors to prevent rust, maybe swap in a 302 eventually. I've been wanting a little truck like this for a while and I want to clean it up to be in top shape to have it hold up through the winters here. This truck brings back all sorts of memories of when I was a kid, my grandfather had one of these back in the day and even stuff like the sliders for the heat and blower brings me back.
