Just bought an 84 Ranger 5.0

Oh and how come you sold the probe?

Understandable completely.

Can't wait till mines done

Gonna tinker on er today and get my check off list for inspection done today, hopefully all is well

Got most of the stuff on my to-do list done, all it needs now are valve guide seals and tags/inspected :) Drove it around the block a few times and WOW does this thing have power XD it chirps in 3rd if I'm on it

It moves!!! And yes I spilt oil on the header so it was smoking from that, its burnt off now and all is well. Also put the stock valve cover back on the right side. lol i had trouble getting over the hump in the lean-to garage because I'm not used to a performance clutch lol. Also the hoses on the valve cover are just temporary till i get to advance auto and buy some breathers.
First Video is a cold start, it fires up so quick!!

another quick update, truck gets inspected tomorrow :) But one *annoying* little thing happened while driving it tonite, the left exhaust pipe's hanger rubber tore off next to the rear driveshaft yoke. So now if I hit a hard enough bump, I hear a loud grinding noise of the pipe hitting the yoke...damn thing...would fixed the "closeness" issue with a BFH tonite but it was pouring rain outside. Good thinking on my part I put brand new wipers on the other day....I'll fix it after I get it inspected tomorrow....

pfft, thats nothing, could be alot worse.

coulda lost the clutch, overheated, got a short.

thats a stupied little problem,

so how does it drive with a v8 in it? just curious what im in for.

in order with the thing u said coulda gone wrong; clutch is brand spanking new stage II racing clutch, it has a 4 core radiator in it, wiring is all crimped and covered, no electrical tape lol. I'll fix the hanger tomorrow.

and to answer your question, it drives amazing with a V8(5-speed) in it. I can easily drive it and get ok to decent mileage, and if I need to stomp on some S10's, it'll spin the tires right through 3rd gear. actually I really need traction bars...this is one nasty puppy lol. I'd love to ride in a V8 Ranger that's a highly modified V8, mine is mild, 4bbl, headers, crane cam, true duals, accel coil etc

Nice.

Mine is a mild v8 with around 300 horse at the crank.

I hope mine is a hoot to drive as well.

it should be, all the small block chevy motor's I've seen have such a large aftermarket following for performance parts you could make one nasty corvette eater :icon_surprised:

trucks inspected now. but on the way home from getting inspected i stopped at the gas station....went to start it and nothing, noticed the pos wire going from the batter to the solenoid was a lil loose so i snugged it, it started and i drove home. shut it off when i got home, and tried to start it back up but nothing....moving the wires did nothing, checked all the fuses there all good...WTF? just my luck...
