i just picked up a 87 pathfinder 4x4 v6 five speed and the previuos owner says i needed a temp sensor because it wasnt kicking off the high idle when the engine warmed up, and would over fuel and be under powered, and back fire before i go spend the 60.00 on a new one is there any way i can get this one cleaned? and also where is it located???
thanks in advance
Adam

Nope the temp sensor is an electronic non-servicable sealed unit on most cars. I would always feel better buying a new certified one than even a a junkyard one. They aren;t that bad to replace. Unplug wires, twist out old, seal and twist in new, complete.

Try where your upper rad hose meets the engine block. I don't know off hand, Im just going from my old car. Of not there just follow your main coolant hoses. It should be near a junction somewhere.
