How do I know if I've got the live axles or not? Please forgive my ignorance. I want to change out to manual lock outs.

Do you have nuts on end on axle? Or pvh lock out?
I you have nuts, you have live axle. If you don't, you have pvh.

If you have a 98 that is 4x4 it comes stock with PVH. unless somebody who owned it previously swapped it to live axle which is very unlikely but remove the hubcap. If there is a nut its live axle if there is a big black hub its PVH.
