Just another dana 30 sas...

Ok onto a different question for the members. I'm looking at new springs for the front. I was thinking of trying to find lighter weight springs for a stock ranger/explorer, but I don't know of anybody that makes them. I was thinking about using the springs that came out of the cherokee, but I'm thinking I'd have to replace the spring buckets and that is one thing I really don't want to do. Remember the free part of the original post? Then I was thinking about using EB springs but not really sure what height or spring rate. The one stipulation I have is that I'm not looking to get it too high that I won't be able to get it through inspection in a couple years. Any suggestions?

Im using Xj 6.5 coils in mine. and it gave me 5 inches of lift in the front.

And heres a list of other coils on there site too.

As for my upper bucket, I just made a J-clip and bolted it to the bucket so that it would hold the coil in place along with the use of the factory metal tabs and the lower buckets, I made holders and welded them to the buckets so it wouldnt come out of it either but can still take the coils out if I needed to. Another way is to make the upper buckets like a Jeep and the coils can slide up and down (controled falling out of the buckets) so that you can have increased flex too.

You dont want to use TTB coils of any kind, they are just way to stiff.

XJ 6.5 look good with your 33's. I was planning on just keeping 31's under my truck. Maybe use the XJ 4.5 coils. Anybody use them?

Actually Im running 32's under my truck. The Xj coils that I have are 150 lbs spring rate but there are other ones that do run 190lbs from other companies. I only have mine due to I got them for free and have worked great for me.

Just a long overdue update and a few questions. I got all the pieces to the control arms from Ruff Stuff and Currie. Haven't welded them together just yet. Still looking for coil springs. Thinking about finding a set of early bronco 3.5" superflex springs from broncograveyard.com. Has anyone used these and how much lift did you get? The other questions I have is what is the easiest way to get a track bar mounted? Is there something I can grab from the junkyard or am I needing to go aftermarket? Or can I use the old track bar that came out of the jeep?

You will need to build a trackbar mount or buy one from Ruff Stuff or similar company. I tried using an aftermarket XJ one and it wouldn't work without some modifications.

What kind of modifications?

It would need cut and turned for it to line up and then would need more reinforcement and welded to the frame. So with all that work it made more sence for me to just make one

While I was in the garage yesterday, I started going through the stuff I've already bought for the SAS swap. Seems I already have a trackbar mount. Bought it with all the other stuff from RuffStuff. Now just need to figure out how to get it to work with my jeep trackbar or find another one to fit.
