Started my third Ranger build a few weeks ago. I'll post pics as the build progresses.

Starter truck.....1984 2wd, SB, 2.0L four speed, manual brakes and manual steering.. Bought with no intentions at all...just a parts truck. For $300 I was worth the money spent. Cap is good for my DD Ranger, frame was in good shape, front and rear suspension is also good. Cab was fair, bed was useable for a beater.

Then I found this......1986 Capri that had a swapped EFI 5.0L HO, T5, MAF added. After selling some exhaust parts I'm into this for $450. It met it's end when a large tree crushed the back end.

All of the following took place in about 2 hours.

Some 3/16" plate pads.

Hokey motor mounts. I cut the mounting plate from the bottom of the mount, bolted them to the motor and wiggled it around under I had everything where I wanted. Then clamped the outer shell to the frame plate and welded them in place. This keeps the rubber top and bottom.....didn't cost a thing.

The trans lined up perfect with the cross member moved to the rear mounting holes....no pics of that.

Had about 4 hours total in the Ranger disassembly and installation of the large heavy parts.

5.0 and T5 hanging before setting into the frame.

2.0 and four speed transplanted into the bed for safe keeping.........for now.

After the initial thrash I found the cab floors to be way worse than I imagined. I knew the prior owner poorly scabbed sheet metal in the floor but the lower firewall was also pretty soft.

So I bought this for $250 from a friends junkyard. It's going to donate the cab, complete interior, power steering and gas tank to the cause. The coil spring towers were torched out at the junkyard for parts....hence the slammed stance.

Finally some pretty parts!! Without frame notching, these Tri-Y's almost fall into place. They fit wonderful.

Next step (tonight)....pull all the wiring from the Capri...push it out. 1993 Ranger chassis back in for steering and gas tank removal.

92 ranger. 93 started the 3rd generation. Nice project...

Yeah. Realized that. Typo. I only own four of them.

I must be nice to have a lift at home. That parts truck was a great find.

It's awesome....best $2500 I ever spent in the garage.

Last night I stripped the parts truck of its entire fuel system....tank and lines.....brake prop valve, chassis wiring harness and the PS. All the sheetmetal parts were already removed. I'm giving my father in law the bed.

Now I need to pull the bed from the build truck and start mocking up the fuel system. I'm guessing the tank from the 1992 will fit a 1984 frame. Only diff I see in parts numbers is for the earlier carbed versus the later EFI trucks. I took the lines from the tank to the fuel rail. Hoping just a short adapter piece will fit them to the 5.0L fuel rails. I have a really good hose builder that has made me stuff in the past....he can likely hook me up.

After mock up everything will be stripped off, prepped and painted. I like working on clean stuff.
