I found a 73 ford 250 4x4 highboy 390 4 speed granny first on craigslist for 900. My dad has a old 68 250 ranger camper special 2wd truck just sitting at our house. Here's the thing the 73 is missing the bed and my dad's 68 is completely straight not a single ding or dent in it. I know 73 was the first year of the slightly different body lines so I'd have to swap the bed, cab, fenders, pretty much everything which is ok cause I like the 67-72's body better. Is it worth swaping bodys out??? I'm assuming the body mounts are in the exact same locatation. :icon_confused:

The fuel tanks are in the same location inside the cab, I'm not sure if the frame widths are the same tho.

73's tank was in between the frame rails. Just cut a hole in the bed for a filler neck or depending on your skills, go get a gas tank door for a 74 or later.

The frames are the same from 69 up. The 65-68 are essentially the same even tho they changed body styles in 67, they shared the same I beams and narrow drums as the original 65's . The 69's went to a wider drum and stuck with it til 72. The 73's went to disc and the fronts were a direct bolt in for the previous years.

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but the point is, that Ford doesnt like changing things when they don't have too.

They used the same back glass from 73 -96. Front glass from 67 -79. Just lil silly stuff.

Might be easier to do an engine/drivetrain swap and make your dad's truck a 4x4 than to swap the body. Just another thought.
