ive been searching the forums and havent seen anyone attempt this yet. im wanting to put a sub in my 1994 ext cab ranger and i was thinking that the drivers side jump seat compartment would be a great place for one. no one ever rides back there and even if they did, with my seat slid all the way back there wouldnt be any room for them to sit. im thinking 8" or 10", i need to do some measuring to see what will fit best. im not looking to win contests or impress ladies, i just want some more body to my music. if anyone has done this or has any insight or reasons why this wont work, please chime in.

yeah, kind of like that, except im thinking about mounting it in the seat itself. i was thinking ill take the foam off the back and remove the back rest then cut a hole in the carpeted side and mount the speaker in it. ill just need to figure out how to fasten the seat bottom to the plastic trim, unless i use some flat steel stock and make a frame to go behind the trim that will give me something solid to mount to. ill just have to fill the inside of the sotrage space with dynamat or something of that sort to keep the sheet metal vibrations down. on the passenger side i want to use some parts of a tool box i got for free and mount the drawers in the storage space behind the jump seat so i can keep my tool rolls inside the truck and hidden from plain sight. that will give me more room in my truck box to put my hi lift and shovel and straps and other equipment. i got tomorrow off so ill see what i can make happen.

I found this on here but I never found any more info for it.

I really want this box!

As long as It's in a seperate enclosure other than just the seat housing, its fine. Dont mount a sub in the vehicle without a box, it sounds like someone is punching the side of the cab, not much "body" to it. If you do a shallow-mount sub, with a thin box, it would fit close to flush with where the seat folds up to.

But, if It were me, I would personally make the box myself and make it bigger with better interior volume. My friend Steve has a pre-fabbed box in his jeep with 3 10's in it, but its small. My gmc POS has a larger custom box with one 12" sub, and mine will blow his apart.

^ i agree. had 2 sony 10's each in their own walmart premade box a couple years ago. took those same 2 subs and made a custom box and it sounded SO much better.

A buddy of mine has 2 JL Audio 10's in a box in the back of his 4Runner, and while they may sound a little cleaner, I think mine still beats his. It was even more powerful when I was only running 2 speakers off the head unit too.

The box needs a little fine tuning.... I'll pull the sub from it and probably stuff some more foam behind it, and move those L brackets to the inside (I was lazy when I put them on). I like that setup though, since my amp is hidden inside the box... :icon_thumby:
