Ya, I love my 4L, and the BW1354 aint bad.... But I'm sick of putting up with crap tranny's. I'm on my third M5OD, and this one is on it's way out as well. Great behind a 2.3L, but not made for a heavier truck and a torquier engine.

I vote getting a start on the engine swap!

i agree. This is the original motor, trans, and t case, and im at a buck 70 on the ticker. I think thats pretty good for the original trans.

yep.... Its official.... After 150K miles of easy driving, and 20K of me owning it, the transmission finally shat itself. the output shaft bearing has come apart inside the case, and i was pulling chunks of it out with a magnet last night....

Going to hopefully pick up a replacement Friday

well, the transmission turned out to be perfect. If you guys could see how good the inside of this thing looked, you would never believe it had 170K on it. It ended up being the driveshaft was not balanced, and it blew out the new carrier bearing, I switched to a one piece driveshaft from a new model Ranger, and problem solved.

Yep, both me and John have been there, and I'm there again!! I found out that the aluminum shaft doesn't hold up well to wheeling and a V8 swap, so if you found an aluminum, make it temporary until you get a steel...I was told 98-01 had steelies as well as all sport tracs. I will verify monday night/tuesday if the sport trac is the same length, as I am told it is, but I will find out

I dunno what year mine came from. I traded the JY a blown transmission and a 1354E and 75 bucks for it. The bumper is installed. Light holes are small, but still pretty cool. I am ordering the lights for them today and picking up the winch friday. Found a never been used Warn XD9000i with mobile mounting plate and controller for 450 bucks. It still has the tags on it. Christmas present to myself.
