Josh40601's Build Thread. (D-ranged)

I told ya on pirate, and even gave ya a picture! Move the top hole into where the rivet is, and you should be alright. I had the same issue with mine, I just redrilled the perch and Ubolt plate and slid the axle ahead....but I have fairly crappy overly flat shackle angle.

I know! I just forgot which rivet and didn't have access to the computer! Where do you think I am moving it friday? :icon_thumby:

well, i did the 64 inch spring swap yesterday. Finished it, but not pleased. The 64" springs moved the axle back about 2", which i did not want to do. I am going to move the front hanger forward some more, that should fix this problem. The other problem is my damn blocks. They are angled, so they have some crazy big degree in them. I installed them where (Ithought) the diff would be level instead of kicked up, bad idea. They pointed the diff down so much that the drive shaft u joint is hitting the yoke. Hobby shop is closed today, so getting that taken care of tomorrow. Going to move the hanger forward Friday.

I had the same problem with my leaf swap. I did it the way the tech article said and my axle was back about 1.5". I just made a set of blocks with the center pin moved forward and new u-bolt plates. Problem solved

Why is everyone having issues with this?? Is the center bolt in the spring centered in the spring? Can you put it on baclwards?

I had no issues at all. I just moved the front hanger forward exactly 6".

what year did your springs come from? Mine are off an 03 HD

Mine were generic Procomp 5.5" 88-98' leafs. I think the issue is with the arc caused by using lift leafs vs, mixing and matching stocker leafs?

mine were stock though, just off an HD.

so it seems that the 88-98 style stock springs require to move the hanger 6" forward, and maybe the 99-06 along with the lift springs require the 7.5" forward?

BTW, the bumper will be started this week, and finished sometime next week. James at RLC Fab in Looville, KY is hooking it up. Great guy, and will do one off work, just like he is for me, for one HELL of a price.

Well my leafs are from a 91 half ton 4wd chevy, and I think my front hangers arent in the right possition might have to rotate them forward some.

I forgot to post up, but Tuesday we got the blocks swapped back around, and of course, it was fixed. The axle is still to far back. I drove it and got a nasty vibration when under power around 65-70 mph on the freeway. I know the driveshaft is pretty much fully extended, so i only drove it tuesday night, and all day yesterday. Decided to wait until tomorrow when i move the hangers forward before I drive it a lot. Updates to come....

Josh, nice build so far....Hout posting up those build pics of the front end swap??
